Good morning, gang! We've got 60 more minutes of fantasy chattage ahead of us, so let us dally no longer! Second cup of coffee in hand. Immunity up for grabs. Who's up first?
Do you still believe that Josh Reddick will turn his season around? I feel like he's trying too hard to replicate his breakout season.
Don't know if it's a case of trying to do too much, but perhaps with Cespedes now back and picking up the offense a bit, he can rebound. Leaving home for a bit aftert hsi recent disastrous run certainly may help as well.
Can Cingrani keep his gig after Cueto returns? Mike Leake out?
I would hope that's how it turns out. The one thing I'd be surprised with is a Cingrani "sticks but moves to the pen" situation.
Valverde or Rivera ROS?
You gotta go to Mo's!
Do you like what I have to offer?
For the most part, yes. Probable not looking to find a spot on my roster for you, but if I have someone I'm looking to perhaps get rid of already...
Whats with Brett Gardner and only one stolen base this year?
Whats with Brian not reading boxscores for the last two days? He's been on base more of late, and the SB will come - just like the three he's had since Tuesday.
Any worries about Cole Hamels?
Not really. He's a bit more wild that I'd like him to be, but if he can get that K/BB rate under 2, he'll get the stats you need in the categories he can control.
Who do you like more tomorrow: Villanueva, Guthrie or Doubront? Worth holding long term?
Working on Daily Notes "now" and it looks like Carlos will win this trio. Very close between him and Felix for ROS.
Should I give up on Hosmer or too early to cut loose (maybe for Arenado?)
Lots of Hosmer questions, and while my gut says to give him another two weeks - it does come down to who is there to replace him. Not cutting him just to grab any warm body... but for Nolan, I think in a one-and-done league I would.
What date in a roto league do you start taking the standings seriously? I used to use June 1 but with a team that has LaRoche, Morrow, Kemp, and Moustakas, I may have to move that up to May 1...
I think this week is the right time to start to look at things and gauge how much you're trailing in each category and how much that gap has been growing each week. Those numbers start to mean something now - but it's still two more weeks before I start to really believe the Betancourts are legit and the Ike Davises are not.
Is it time to cut M. Montero or is he normally a slow starter?
I think it's time to cut him. There's slow and then there's glacial.
You buying what J. Grimm is doing? Pick him up or stay away?
Tentatively buying... certainly worth a No. 5 SP slot right now. Of course if you start getting the feeling you're being followed by a Hexenbiest, feel free to run like the Dickens.
Ian Kennedy was just dropped. Drop Cashner or Parker for him?
Parker can go.
Pick one ROS...Freese or Moustakas
Mous for me.
AAA struggles aside, true or flase...Zack Wheeler will come up around June and post similar numbers to 2012 Matt Harvey...
False - more so on the Harvey comp than the call up itself.
What's more likely: J.P. Arencibia finishing the season above 40 home runs or above a .260 average?
The power is far more likely.
Any worries over Beltre's extremely slow start?
Not really. The run production has still been fairly good for you, so while the BA has been unusually low, I'm not concerned. He's been about as valuable as Ryan Howard and Buster Posey thus far in the overall sense. That's not bad.
Points League: Dominic Brown or Lucas Duda?
It's Duda, but it's not pretty.
Drop Crisp for Marte or McClouth?
No DL spots? Always better to trade than drop, but if the only alternative is a zero... I personally prefer Nate.
Ryu/ESantna for real?... loving this start from each!... Who is better ROS?
Having a harder time accepting it from Santana, but that's my own personal hangups... the numbers say he's the more legit guy ROS.
The tribe has spoken, my dear.
Would you drop Lowrie or Escobar for Asdrubal Cabrera right now? seems to be turning it around a bit lately...
He is turning it around a bit, but I'm still riding the other two for now...
What do you make of the Arizona bullpen?
I can make a hat or a pterodactyl... Actually, Matt Reynolds has been pretty good, but apart from that, far too erratic right now to trust.
Are you buying Segura's start?
Apart from the batting average, I think you kind of have to...
Experts often have this statement: I would not start X pitcher on a mixed 12 team league, but I would in a deeper league.A good start is a good start in any league, no? And a bad one too...can you explain?
Certainly, you are correct. I think it's more of an expression of confidence vs. depth. In a 12-team mixed, recommending a starter means Top 60. In a 14-team AL-only, we're talking "on a roster".
Can Ryan Raburn keep up his hot start?
I think so. I mean, yes, I'm never going to assume .365 for the rest of the season from most people - but even with some regression built in, I'm buying more than selling.
Seriously this isn't a Survivor chat. Now my watching of the episode is ruined. Thanks a lot
Possible responses: A) Shouldn't you be in class? B) Bruce Willis was dead the whole time. C) Sorry about that, Chief. D) Actually, I can honestly say that I did not spoil anything as I did not in fact reveal the identity of the next person to be voted off.
LoCain...buying as a top 30 OF ros?
I'd say he's currently top 75 overall, but should slide a bit... a lot of those guys are going to be OF, so 30 might be too lofty a goal.
Iwakuma enough to try and get Jay Bruce?
I'm enough to TRY and get Jay Bruce... Personally, I think that might be too much to give for Jay Bruce. But that's the thing about trading - the only person whose opinion matters is the current owner of Jay Bruce.
Lawrie or Machado ros?
How does my mustache look?
I'd tell you what I think, but that might spoil the episode for a certain truant I know.
Would you rather have ROS, J. Fernadez or D. Straily??
Straily for me.
Pierz or Ruiz ROS?
AJ like AJ.
You ruined Survivor for me
Why so down on Jay Bruce? Don't you think he'll come around soon and finish with normal numbers?
I think he'll come around, but if someone is going to trade him at all, it's probably based on a belief that "anything is better than nothing" and if that's the case, then you can offer a lot less than if he were "normal" right now.
gattis train stopping soon?
Not entirely. I think he stays around even after McCann returns.
You answered when to take the standings seriously in a roto league. Would you say the date for a head to head league?
Weekly reset leagues make it impossible to judge the standings ever - you're talking even smaller sample sizes and bigger fluctuations. If you know you're ALWAYS losing the same categories, that's a sign you likely need to make changes - but you could be best team overall and still be winless.
Worried about Stras' arm? Was offered Prado/Stras for Pedroia/Dempster...
Not worried about his arm as I am concerned that all the 1st inning issues point to a preparation problem which may be trickier to overcome. I'd rather have Dustin.
Bench Ike for Brandon Belt?
Right now, absolutely.
That's the whistle, gang. Thanks for the questions... I am also available on Twitter (@ajmass) for those I didn't get to... Until then, good luck and remember no gnews is good gnews without Gary Gnu.
