Chat with Bill Williamson

Michael Boothman (Kalispell Montana)

I was wondering if you think the wide receiver Ford from the Oakland raiders can stay healthy and if so do you think he will break 1000 receiving yards this year and out do Moore, Long time oakland raiders fan

Bill Williamson
  (3:03 PM)

Well, I think Ford has to show he can stay healthy before talking 1,000 yards. I think the Raiders would be happy with him being 30-40 catch guy this season.

Phill (Kansas City)

The Broncos and the Chiefs seem relatively close talent-wise and some can make the argument of evenly stacked save for QB. Do you agree or disagree?

Bill Williamson
  (3:04 PM)

Dnever may have some more talent, but Kansas City doens't ahve many holes, either. But, of coruse, it all starts at quarterback.

Kyle (Lincoln NE)

How has Danny Woodhead looked? Any chance SD turns into a RBBC or even give Woodhead the bulk of carries?

Bill Williamson
  (3:07 PM)

The Chargers are exicted about him. He will be a role player, but we will see him in several different looks.

Dave (SD,CA)

I see the Chargers at best as a 6 win team. Oline is still bad and will take time to work together, secondary is suspect, pass rush is not present- all three very important areas in order to have success. Add in a new coach and no depth in most areas why all the optimism here in Chargerland.

Bill Williamson
  (3:09 PM)

There are questions, no doubt. This team is far from a finished product. But there are some good things present as well. I don't think the Chargers are a sure playoff contender but I don't think they will embarrass themselves either.

Ken (San Diego)

How long do you think the Chargers will stick with Philip Rivers if he continues to struggle?

Bill Williamson
  (3:09 PM)

Twp years, tops.

Joseph Hill (St. George)

Lets just assume for one minute both Ryan Mathews and Darren Mcfadden play the whole season. Who rushes for more yards?

Bill Williamson
  (3:11 PM)

I'd say McFadden just because his past success.

AJ (Oakland)

Apart from DJ Hayden, do you see Tracy POrter and Jenkins being in the Raiders long-term plans if they play above average.

Bill Williamson
  (3:13 PM)

Yes. Both are on one-year deals. if they play well, i cab see Oakland geting deals done with them.

jeremyave (Denver)

Which AFC west RB is under the most pressure to do well this year?

Bill Williamson
  (3:15 PM)

Like we addressed yetserday on the blog, McFadden and Mathews are both under immense pressure.

benw32 (Facebook)

BW, are you still going to be our resident blogger or is Zuckerberg taking over?

Bill Williamson
  (3:15 PM)

I'm in.

Eric (Colorado)

Who do you expect the Raiders to spend money next year? Besdies Wiz and MacFadden there does not seem to be that many targets on the team.

Bill Williamson
  (3:17 PM)

Veldheer, Houston.

Po (Brooklyn)

Miles Burris showed a ton last year. Why aren't the Raiders building with him?

Bill Williamson
  (3:17 PM)

They are. They just are getting deeper and creating competition.

Dan (Milwaukee)

BW,Team Telesco has got to be given some credit for making something out of nothing. With the amount of $$$$$ he had to spend, seems to be a solid off-season. Yay or Nay?

Bill Williamson
  (3:18 PM)

There still are some holes, but he is starting a nice thing there.

Chris (SC)

Hey Bill, awesome job with the chats and column. What do you think of DA? I'm getting a little sick of hearing all the hate from my fellow Raiders fans. He needs at least a three year shot to put a system in place.

Bill Williamson
  (3:19 PM)

Thanks ... I think Allen is a fine coach who needs another two years to be truly judged.

Scott (Northglenn, CO)

Does PM look noticeably different a year further removed from neck surgery? Any extra zip on his passes?

Bill Williamson
  (3:20 PM)

Haven't seen him myself, but, by all accounts, yes.

Rob (Houston Area, Texas)

I think the Chargers O-line is good, not great. Where are the holes?

Bill Williamson
  (3:21 PM)

Mostly experience.

AJ (Oakland)

Will Woodson be the starting safety or more of a rotational guy?

Po (Brooklyn)

what 2 of 3 WR's will make oaklands 53 (Cribbs, Butler, Conner)?

Bill Williamson
  (3:22 PM)

He's a starter in Oakland. On WRs: Of those three, my guess would be Cribbs and Vernon.

AJ (Oakland)

If Flynn loses out to Wilson in camp, wouldn't that be a good thing from the perspective that the Raiders have a lon-term QB?

Bill Williamson
  (3:22 PM)

In camp? Wow.That would mena Flynn would be really bad.

AJ (Oakland)

Which Raiders WR do you see having the biggest year? I like Moore, but my gut tells me it's Streater.

Bill Williamson
  (3:23 PM)

I like them both. I could see Streater having a nice season.

Mr.Balls_25 (SD)

I'm disappointed your employer has decided to convert to the dark force by going all Facebook/NSA on us. Just thought you should know.

Bill Williamson
  (3:25 PM)

I know. They know.

RviderKlvn (San Diego)

Why is Peyton Manning never in the polls?

Bill Williamson
  (3:27 PM)

Are talking about the one poll we did this week? His presusre is different than the other three. That's all. If he was invovled, the tone of the poll would have been different.

AJ (Oakland)

What are the Raiders going to do about the pass rush this year? The roster doesn't have a bona fide pass rusher.

Bill Williamson
  (3:28 PM)

Hope for Houston Carter and the youngsters to come on and hope for the improvements in the secondary to help as well.

Buzz (Denver)

Bill it seem like the broncos always play a divisional rival for the last game of the season (often the raiders) is there a reason for that?

Bill Williamson
  (3:28 PM)

THe league changed a few years ago to have every game being an intra-division game.

Bryan (SF)

If Hayden didn't get injured in college... Would he have been picked before Milliner?

Bill Williamson
  (3:30 PM)

Good quesiton. Depended on team interest. Milliner was more higly rated during the college season.

Elite (Denva)

Once the comments swtich to facebook does that mean we can be FB friends? Please say yes

Bill Williamson
  (3:30 PM)

We can be now.

Bill Williamson
  (3:31 PM)

I know this is supposed to be 30 minutes. But I'll go another muinutes.

Bryan (SF)

How has Latavious Murray looked? He looks like the bigger version of McFadden to me.

Bill Williamson
  (3:31 PM)

He looks great. Big, fast, versatile. He just has to show he can run, catch and block on the NFL level.

Bryan (SF)

Should the Raiders picked up Star instead of Hayden in the draft? I would have liked the Star pick.

Bill Williamson
  (3:32 PM)

Less quesitons, sure. Time will tell.

PT (NC)

Should the Raiders look at John Abraham to attempt to bolster their pass rush attack?

Bill Williamson
  (3:33 PM)

Might not be a terrible idea.

PT (NC)

Do you think David Bass could surprise early and add some pass rush potential to the Raiders?

Bill Williamson
  (3:34 PM)

He will get the chance. But he is a seventh-round pick. So can't count too much on him right away.

Rick (Marina, CA)

Any chance Tourek Williams becomes a pass rusher for bolts, has the size.

Bill Williamson
  (3:35 PM)

The Chargers will give him the chance to develop. They like him.

Dime Store (Needles CA)

Is it official. Taiwan Jones is a CB?

Bill Williamson
  (3:35 PM)

Yes sir.

Jason (Denver)

Is Champ Bailey's age catching up with him or was his performance in last year's playoffs an anomaly?

Bill Williamson
  (3:36 PM)

He's 35, it's catching up. But I think he can be effective for another year.

Dime Store (Needles CA)

Is the Andy REid offense suited to Jamaal Charles skill set?

Bill Williamson
  (3:37 PM)

Yes, Charles has nice hands and he will get plenty of chances to run the ball. Reid knows he cna't waste a talent like that.

Davoin Smoochie-Wallace (KC)

I hear the Chiefs are entertaining the signing of Brandon Albert long term before the deadline. Do you think a deal gets done?

Bill Williamson
  (3:38 PM)

They will try to get a deal done next week. July 15 is the deadline. I[d say it's 50-50 a deal gets done next week.

Bill Williamson
  (3:38 PM)

Greta chat, folks. Enjoy the holiday weekend.
