Chat with Radi Nabulsi

Radi Nabulsi
  (11:53 AM)

We will get started in just a bit.

Norris (GA)

What do you think the odds are that Lamont Galliard commits at Dawgnight?

Radi Nabulsi
  (12:01 PM)

Zero. Last I heard he was not coming on Dawg Night but would instead be visiting on July 20.

Norris (GA)

oh and VoteFreddie!

Radi Nabulsi
  (12:02 PM)

Indeed. No that I have an opinion...

Lex (Charlotte)

With Baker's commitment, would UGA still take both Galliard and Shaw?

Radi Nabulsi
  (12:03 PM)

Yes they would. Elsha Shaw and Kendall Baker could both play offensive line as well so Georgia would take all four (including Dontavius Russell).

Adam (Chattanooga)

Do you have a specific schedule of the events that are going on at Dawgnight?

Radi Nabulsi
  (12:05 PM)

4:00 - 5:30 Registration and rolling 40-yard dashes; 5:30 Introduction; 6:00 Football drills begin; 6:30 Break; 6:45 Practice (18 periods)

Trey (Georgia)

What are the chances that Lorenzo Carter will be a dawg?

Radi Nabulsi
  (12:07 PM)

Georgia will get the chance to try to knock Florida out of the driver's seat when Carter shows up for DawgNight on Friday. Percentage wise I would guess 33% pre-DawgNight. Will have to talk to him afterwards to see what the percentage is post-DawgNight.

NYC Dawg (New York, NY)

Will Ray Drew play up to his 5 star billing this year? How has he looked?

Radi Nabulsi
  (12:10 PM)

He had a good spring but I just don't know what to expect this season. I saw him briefly yesterday at the gym and he looks impressive but that means nothing. I am cautiously optimistic that he will have a breakout year this season but I just can't say for certain that will be the case.

Chris (Athens)

Are the Dawgs looking at any in-state running backs for the class of 2015?

Radi Nabulsi
  (12:11 PM)

They have already offered Taj Griffin of McEachern High School and will have three in-state tailbacks at DawgNight.

Zach Moseley (Lubbock, TX)

What does Aaron Murray have to do to be considered an elite college quarterback? To me he just does not make enough big plays

Radi Nabulsi
  (12:17 PM)

I think he is considered a top quarterback but to be considered elite he has to win a few more big games. He does make big plays, but he did not make enough of them against South Carolina, Florida and LSU. I think he did turn the corner in the second half of the Florida contest. Since then he had strong showings against Alabama and Wisconsin. When everyone tunes into the South Carolina game this year or the LSU or Florida game, Murray has to perform like he does against Georgia Tech or Auburn. That is ten time harder to do, but the elite quarterbacks make plays under pressure.

Tank (Atlanta)

why doesn't kipp use this chat format? chats on the board seem super slow. Or, is that just Kipp being slow because he's not Twitter-Verified?

Radi Nabulsi
  (12:20 PM)

Ha. I have enjoyed teasing him about that but Kipp Adams deserves to be verified far more that I do. The board chats are for our premium subscribers and are strictly recruiting related. That is quite the bonus for the Insiders. He drops amazing tidbits for the recruiting junkies over on DawgNation. I wish I knew half of that information. This format is faster but there are a lot more topics covered. Kipp is like a laser while I am like a blunderbuss.

Quent (AL)

With only a few spots left do you see them holding a few spots maybe 4-5 for the higher rated players

Radi Nabulsi
  (12:23 PM)

I think (just from what I have heard) there may be only spot saved, and that is for Lorenzo Carter by my guess. It is really first come first serve.

David (Ludowici, GA)

Is Nick Chubb the "Real Deal". Heard he has only played against subpar competition. Your take please

Radi Nabulsi
  (12:26 PM)

I think so. True he wasn't running against top defenders but he has faced 8 or 10 guys in the box and averaged 272 yards per game. He just put up a freakish score in the SPARQ national combine and was unstoppable when he played in the Rising Seniors game against the Peach State's top players. So yeah, I think he is the real deal. Strong as an ox, fast and built to run between the tackles.

Will (Atlanta)

Who's going to take over PK duties with Morgan out? Do you expect to see the offense more aggressive (i.e. going for it on 4th down) with Morgan gone? Finally, any guess how long he'll be suspended?

Radi Nabulsi
  (12:28 PM)

Mark Richt didn't address that when I met with him yesterday but from watching the players work out and talking with the kickers, my guess is Adam Erickson is the guy for now. My guess is that Marshall Morgan misses two games and yes I do believe Georgia will be more aggressive on first down. With all those offensive weapons Mike Bobo can afford to be.

Leverett (Raleigh, NC)

Hello, Mr. Nabulsi. I enjoy reading and watching your videos and articles about UGA. I have recently been wondering about Georgia's recruiting for safetys and CBs. In particular, I have been wondering about the CB position. What are our chances of landing CB DJ Smith (from Marietta, GA) and/or CB Kendall Randolph (from Tallahassee, FL). Have we been recruiting them hard? Any other interesting developments? The only information I have on either of them is that CB Randolph recently announced "UGA" as his leader. Thanks, Lev.

Radi Nabulsi
  (12:31 PM)

Thanks for your kind words! As for cornerback, Georgia wants one more and their preference would be for Kendarius Webster to commit. Right now I don't think D.J. Smith is an option. Randolph told me this week that Georgia was his leader but I think if the coaches were to get Webster then they would stop there since they already have Malkom Parrish. That would be quite the athletic duo.

Lex (Charlotte)

% chance UGA lands each in your opinion: Malone, Evans, Miller.

Radi Nabulsi
  (12:35 PM)

I do hate percentages but here is a guess as of today. Josh Malone, 50 percent. Malone doesn't talk much so it is tough to get a read on him. Rashaan Evans, who named Georgia his leader, 50 percent. Christian Miller, 70 percent. Miller had a great visit and his mother likes the school and location.

Jeff (Villa Rica)

Do you think there is a better chance the Offense will under preform, or the Defense will Over preform given the expectations people seem to have for each this year?

Radi Nabulsi
  (12:37 PM)

Great question. Wish I could think about it for a while. Folks are expecting the offense to top its average of 38 points per game from last season and I think that will be tough. So I would have to say the expectations for the offense are to high -- just like they were for the defense last year.

I_Hate_Tech (Woodstock, GA)

Radi - who do you see as the Juniors most likely to leave early for the 2014 Draft besides Malcolm Mitchell?

Radi Nabulsi
  (12:40 PM)

Damian Swann will go pro. Jay Rome might if he has the season I expect him to but I don't think that will happen.

David (Ludowici, GA)

Uhhh Radi, we haven't played LSU or Wisconsin. It's alright dude I'm getting stoked for some UGA football too!!!!!lol! Great Work though!!

Radi Nabulsi
  (12:42 PM)

Sorry, meant to say Nebraska. And I was referring to LSU in the SEC Championship game.

David (Ludowici, GA)

Ohh, unless your talking about the SECCG and that bowl game, then yessirrrrr you would be correct and I would be WRONG, my badd!!! I humbly ask for a thousand pardons!!!lol!!

Radi Nabulsi
  (12:42 PM)

No problem. As you can see I make mistakes every 15 seconds.

James (Atlanta)

Is Dante Sawyer going to be at DawgNight? Is he leaning towards Auburn?

Radi Nabulsi
  (12:44 PM)

He didn't respond when I asked. I will check again. Right now I don't see him winding up in Athens considering how many OLBs have Georgia on top and are higher on the Bulldogs' board. I think he does like Auburn and Tennessee a lot.

Alex Tymchuck (Gainesville)

Which current verbal could you see as being the shakiest commitment and ditching the Dawgs for Bama or another program?

Radi Nabulsi
  (12:48 PM)

Nick Glass was not to excited about the five safeties Georgia signed last year but he seems to have solidified his commitment. Krenwick Sanders might be that guy but I say that simply because I seldom see him talking about Georgia like the other commits do. If other schools make a run at Gilbert Johnson he will be one to watch as he committed on the spot when he was offered and sometimes a ruched commitment doesn't stick. But right now I just don't see a commit who is wavering.

gehrigrules (Johns Creek)

Now that Dr. Adams has left the building, how long before Sanford Stadium is transitioned to Sanford-Dooley Stadium or Dooley Field at Sanford Stadium?

Radi Nabulsi
  (12:49 PM)

I would give it a year.

Spencer (GA)

Carter, Evans, Brown, and Miller... we are at the top of each's list, who do you think we have the best bet at signing? I say Miller and Brown... Evans has us #1 but he is from Auburn so i cant say i trust it 100%

Radi Nabulsi
  (12:51 PM)

I think that is a fair assessment.

Dawg tired (Tifton, Georgia)

Mr. Nabulsi who do you see as the probable punt returners on this team? I am hoping Green and maybe Swann. Need some burst from that position, last year was a letdown. Thank you sir.

Radi Nabulsi
  (12:55 PM)

J.J. Green and Damian Swann would be good choices as is Malcolm Mitchell. Don't sleep on Tray Matthews or Blake Tibbs. I have to think Devin Bowman or Sheldon Dawson gets a look too.

Eric (ATL)

Did Bama get the better commit (Cornwell) at QB or did UGA? Having to play USC the second game of the season, after facing Clemson week one... do you think UGA will win the EAST and get back to the SECCG?

Radi Nabulsi
  (12:59 PM)

No way to tell yet. I think Alabama got a great quarterback for the system they run and Georgia got the dual threat quarterback Mike Bobo wanted to offset the pocket passer he took last year in Brice Ramsey. Jacob Park showed out at the Elite 11 but that matters little when the pads go on. I think Georgia beats South Carolina but there is still Florida looming after that.

Will (Atlanta)

Who's the favorite to take over at the Star position while JHC is out? What about the safety spot?

Radi Nabulsi
  (1:00 PM)

Tray Matthews would be my guess.

Reese (Nashville, TN)

Of the guys currently committed, which are the most likely to switch to another school?

Benji (Atlanta, GA)

With or without naming names, is there anyone on the current commitment list you feel might not be there come signing day for any reason?

Radi Nabulsi
  (1:02 PM)

Lots of questions about decommits today. Did I miss something? No I don't see any deommits in the immediate future but it is recruiting and that is part of every recruiting cycle.

David (Ludowici, GA)

ANY chance of Raekwon McMillan giving the Dawgs a commit?

Radi Nabulsi
  (1:03 PM)

There is always a chance but I don't see it. Georgia got tired of waiting and picked up Detric Dukes.

Sean (Charleston, SC)

Any updates on how Tramel Terry is progessing and do you think he is headed for a red shirt?

Radi Nabulsi
  (1:06 PM)

I saw him working out with Ron Courson a couple of times last month and he looked great. I think he will be back in time for the season. But Georgia has a lot of talented receivers so there is no rush to play Terry other than his strong desire to get on the field. A redshirt year might be necessary based on position but it looks less like one may be needed due to his injury.

David (Georgia)

Is John Theus really going to be the 6th man on the offensive line going into the Clemson game? Is he still listed behind Ward?

Radi Nabulsi
  (1:07 PM)

No. He is the starting right tackle. I spoke to him yesterday. Theus is fine and Ward will be the 6th man.

Doug (Silver Creek, GA)

Nick Chubb is the real deal. He plays 10 miles from where I live and you don't put 2700+ yards in 10 games if you can't play. Plus, his performance at the Opening should put any concerns to rest. Kid can flat ball.

Radi Nabulsi
  (1:07 PM)

Well said.

Ben B. (L.A.)

Leading candidate to commit at or immediately after Dawg Night?

Radi Nabulsi
  (1:08 PM)

My guess would be wide receiver Shakenneth Williams and/or offensive tackle Dyshon Sims.

Eric (ATL)

What the story with Joe Mixon? See tweet last night? Could UGA sign 3 RBs in this class?

Radi Nabulsi
  (1:11 PM)

Saw the tweet. But I don't believe he is serious. If I am wrong and he picks Georgia then I will take my lumps but I just don't think that is going to happen. Georgia would love to have him but space is getting tight.

Quent ((AL))

will those 9 spots increase if a few leave early, transfer, or a few in the 13 class don't qualify. and do you see any current commit decommiting

Radi Nabulsi
  (1:15 PM)

I think those 9 spots are assuming some players leave early or transfer. There are only 14 seniors on scholarship so signing 21 means you expect some attrition.

David (Ludowici, GA)

What is the overall reaction from the players regarding the Sammy Watkins "beating the mess" out of UGA?

Radi Nabulsi
  (1:16 PM)

"Did he say that? Lol." - That was the reaction I got the most.

J (Dawg in SC)

Care to revisit your UGA vs Clemson prediction?

Radi Nabulsi
  (1:17 PM)

Not yet. Let's see a few fall practices first.

Jesse (Tampa)

How do you see this years FL/GA match up looking this year? With both teams coming off strong seasons last year, this could once again decide the East.

Radi Nabulsi
  (1:19 PM)

I expect that to be the case again this year. Florida is loaded and does not want to give UGA the vindication of winning three in a row. Lot of pressure on Will Muschamp to win that game as well. I expect it to be the bloodiest game of the season.

Radi Nabulsi
  (1:22 PM)

Breaking bit of news: Just as I wrote earlier that Walton CB D.J. Smith may not be an option, I am informed that he will be attending DawgNight. Former teammate Brandon Kublanow assured me a while back that Smith would be a Bulldog but my interviews with Smith had me thinking such was not the case. And that my friends is how fast recruiting changes sometimes.

Jake (Millen, Ga)

Do you see Jonathan Taylor starting week one against Clemson? Him and the other kid from Millen (James Deloach) looked very impressive in the spring game.

Radi Nabulsi
  (1:25 PM)

I think the starters on the line will be Garrison Smith, Mike Thornton and Ray Drew or Sterling Bailey. DeLoach could be the Sam linebacker. Kid has a huge chip on his shoulder.

David (Indianapolis)

If Shakenneth does commit, would the team still take a commitment from Malone?

Radi Nabulsi
  (1:26 PM)

I can't say for certain since they can't tell me but my guess it yes.

Michael (ATL)

Does UGA land any 5 star recruits in the 2014 class?

Radi Nabulsi
  (1:27 PM)

Keep an eye on Lamont Gaillard and Sony Michel. They could be 5-stars later.

Radi Nabulsi
  (1:28 PM)

I have to go folks. Sorry I did not get to all of your questions but I invite you to drop by The Pound at DawgNationESPN.com and ask them there. See you next week!
