Good afternoon everyone...without further delay let's get this partaaaayyy started!
do not agree about running 3 in cup dale earnhardt passed away in the 3 car show some respect 4 one the greatest drivers every
Patsy I can completely understand how you feel...but would it help you to know that when Dale died he had already been making plans to retire and was helping Richard Childress hand pick his successor who was going to drive the number 3..Dale never had a thought about wanting the number retired because it had never been done. Dale was a racer's racer and he understood someone else would drive the number three one day and he didn't have an issue with it.
Is his history at Loudon enough to convince you Denny Hamlin can have a bounce-back week? He's had quite a rough go of it lately.
Zach, yes I do believe this will be a bounce back week for Hamlin if recent history is any indication..He had three lousy runs prior to the first Loudon race last year and was the runner-up. He also had a couple of mediocre outings before the fall race in NH and won..Loudon is what the doctor ordered for an ailing Hamlin.
Guru, Hamlin has had a nice run at Loudon recently, but his struggles this year and, more importantly, his health have me looking elsewhere. He took another hard hit at Daytona. Think he's good to go this weekend? Any concerns on your end? Thanks!
I think Hamlin's good to go this weekend and should be in the mix..He's taken some hard hits at both Kentucky and Daytona, but I don't think that will be an issue in Loudon. He's just got a natural knack for getting around that place.
Who do you think will win the CNBC the Prime Profit 200 & the Camping World RV Sales 301 at New Hampshire?
How about Kyle Busch and Clint Bowyer Chris?
Mark, hope all is well, Daytona was a mixed bag for my ESPN team and not very good on Y!. This week for New Hampshire my prelim team is on ESPN: 48-15-18-24-55 and on Y!: 15-78-55-51. Feel pretty set on ESPN but Y! I'm not to set. Thinking of using one of my 5 starts left w/the 5 over one of my 7 w/the 15 should I? Also, pretty sold on the 78 but thinking of using one of 5 of the 88 or 8 w/the 22 over the 55? And last is the 51, have 7 starts left w/the 17 but really believe he'll start to take off later in the year should I use the 17 over 51 or maybe throw the 13 in? Thanks again for the chats Mark!
Good afternoon Nick..I like your ESPN team, but don't "love" it. I think you need to find a place for Tony Stewart and Denny Hamlin..my prelim team going in is 48,15,2,14, and 11...As for the Y! team I like the 15 better than the 5 any ways. I like the 78 and rate 22 over the 55...I'd go with the 51 as a top-15 potential this weekend and save 17, who I agree will only get better in the second half.
My top ten this week 48 24 15 14 11, 5 2 88 29 22. How do we compare? Note: The top 5 are also my team for this week.
We're pretty close I guess...I'm not as high on the 24 as you..Jeff has had some tough luck lately and can't seem to shake out a really good run..They're capable, but I haven't seen a "complete" race from them lately............NEW HAMPSHIRE - PRE-RACE TOP 30 RANKINGSNOTE: The rankings are updated during the race day chats1.Clint Bowyer2.Denny Hamlin3.Jimmie Johnson4.Kasey Kahne5.Tony Stewart6.Kevin Harvick7.Brad Keselowski8.Matt Kenseth9.Joey Logano10.Kurt Busch11.Jeff Grodon12.Dale Earnhardt, Jr.13.Ryan Newman14.Brian Vickers15.Kyle Busch16.Greg Biffle17.Carl Edwards18.Jeff Burton19.Martin Truex, Jr.20.Jamie McMurray21.Juan Pablo Montoya22.A.J. What 2 Drivers will make History After Qualifying in the Camping World RV Sales 301 at New Hampshire?
Well I know one is Morgan Shepherd as he'll become the oldest driver ever to start a Sprint Cup Series event..not sure about the other.
Why Can't the Nationwide Series Race at Either Pocono or Sonoma?
Too expensive for them to race at those two places and tracks probably couldn't see enough tickets for there to be a profit.
My early lineup for New Hampshire:48-11-14-15-24 What you think?
That looks pretty good to me Jeff..Good-luck.
Hi Mark - I really like the 15 and the 29 this weekend. Both have been consistently in the top 5 or 10 and are going to bust through this weekend. What do you think?
Not sure what you mean by "bust through" Robert, but I expect the 15 to run for the win and the 29 to run top-10 with a shot at a top-5.
hey mark, how do you see the 15 team this weekend? Clint's won here before and he's coming off of three good finishes from Infineon, Kentucky and at daytona...what say you mr. guru?
Well, if you look at my preview I have Mr. Bowyer number one in my pre-race rankings with Hamlin and Johnson just behind him. I for one will not be surprised if Bowyer pulls into victory lane at NH for a third time.
Hey Guru, right now, I've got two possible teams based on last 4 races and possible upside in value:14, 24, 5, 48, 1114, 5, 48, 11, 2Which do you like better? Any concerns?
I like the second team a little bit better. I have the 2 on my prelim team and if he can shake his bad luck I think held.
Hey Guru, the 11 generally performs pretty well at NHMS but has been on a run of bad luck in recent weeks. Does he turn it around here?
Yes, I think Hamlin is top-5 or better and NH always helps Hamlin get back on track.
Hey Guru, the 78 has not run well at NHMS over the past 4 races but is on a hot streak right now. Does his hot streak keep going this week?
Forget the past stats for the 78 right now...He hadn't done anything in his past six plate races and he finishes sixth at Daytona. When a team gets on a roll like this, what's happen before just doesn't seem to matter. Keselowski had a string of top finishes last year at places his previous numbers were ugleee and he gobbled one good finish after another.
My team at this point is 99,55,48,14, and 11. any swaps jump out at you?
Karl, for starters Clint Bowyer over Carl Edwards..the rest I can live with.
Taylor that up and down deal with Kahne is a little scary...if he's on an "up" going into Richmond should be okay, but if he's on a "down" that's rollercoaster ride that could crash.
Dude, Kahne's getting me nervous. He has too much speed to not make the Chase, but he is going to cut it close....again. Thoughts?
Oops should have post question first..lol
Came in 2nd place for my leagues half-season. Thanks for all your help, Guru!!!! Can you give me 2 drivers who are most likely to outperform their average this week? Thanks again!
Jason...as far as NH or the season? Please write back.
2 drivers who will outperform their season average. Sorry.
I'm thinking Denny Hamlin is a no-brainer Jason...then maybe Montoya who ran so strong at Richmond..or his teammate McMurray who's been coming on as of late..Jeff Burton is another possibility because he came up and did the tire test and has four NH wins, but on the old configuration.
As a fan, it's terrifying. He was 2nd in the points after Bristol. Sort of like how he was 30 something last season after his wreck in the beginning of the race. It seriously looks like the complete opposite of last season. The three best cars all season have consistently been the 5, 20, and 48. He has the speed to win the championship, but do you think Kahne has the demeanor?
I think Kahne has the demeanor and the talent to win the championship especially with five of the last ten races on mile and a half tracks...but he's got to find and so does the team..the key to being consistent...too many ups and downs..and even if he gets in that would doom his chances.
Thanks, Guru. Btw, how's my prelim team look for this week: 15, 11, 5, 14, 29 ?
Jason, that team looks pretty sporty on paper.
My team this weekend on espn is 20,15,14,42,11 in that order, any changes?
Mike..no big fan of Kenseth at NH..15,14 should do well and the 11...42 is an interesting pick because he ran so well at Richmond...but his lack of consistency is scary...I might lean towards Vickers in the same price range..and if you had the money to trade 20 and get 48 back on your team I'd do that.
What's all this Newman to RCR talk?
With Harvick coming over to Stewart-Haas Newman will be the odd guy out so he's shopping and a number of teams are interested..RCR, Penske, Furniture Row..word is Quicken Loans will go with him wherever he decides to land.
Not the kind of question you usually get but looking at you rankings you have Reuti ahead of Ragan and Gilliland. Can I ask why?
Looked at the runs he had this year at Phoenix and Richmond...was top-25 both the Rootie boy was.
Would Happy Harvick be a good pick this weekend?
I think Harvick would be a guy if you have him..keep him, but not sure I would rate him a "buy"..I traded him for the 2 to get a little more cap space so I could go again with as prelim team 48,15,2,17, and 11.
Mark,Why no real love for the 18? I have him an early 4th in my rankings. Thanks.
Just not all that impressed with him lately at NH.... His only Loudon Cup win came in this race seven years ago. He finished 16th and 28th here last year, and has not finished better than 9th in his last six races.
Do you ever look at driver's stats at specific races rather than just a specific track? For example, it seems like Vickers has recently done alot better at New Hampshire II than New Hampshire I. Just wondering if there was a reason.
That comes into account if there's a clear trend...
I've got to run...our race day chat from Loudon is 10:30 eastern Sunday morning. I hope you get to join us then and I hope you have a great week..Sad to say but must "The Guru has left the building!"
