Why is Damian Williams the lone receiver in the three TE sets instead of first round draft pick Kendall Wright? Is it because Williams is a better blocker? Wouldn't Wright make opposing defenses look for a pass and possibly even slide safety help to his side allowing for more possible running room? Very curious...
It's not that curious. Williams is a good blocker and it rests the top three receivers on likely run downs. Wright needs to play more, but in base and three-wide not necessarily three-tight.
Greetings everyone, thanks for coming.
What would the Titans need to do on Sunday for the game to be considered a success?
Win, I think. I'm hard pressed to call a loss a success.
Hey paul prediction for sunday ? titans texans
It'll be in a Double Coverage post that will show up tomorrow afternoon.
What direction does this team go in if the Titans only wins come by running the ball and playing good defense due to Locker inability to throw?
Well you can only win so many games in that style. And they didn't do it that way because Locker couldn't throw it. They did it that way because he didn't need to throw it. That can't go in a direction where it's predictable. Predictable isn't good. Big conclusion to jump to, however. I don't think they think they can win with that approach weekly. They'll use it when they can.
question to paul kuharsky 13 points last sunday can the titans score more againt houston
It was 16, actually. Sure, they can score more.
Am I correct that you will be tuning in to "better call saul" when it airs?
If the Titans beat the Texans on Sunday, no matter by margin of the score, will they recieve the respect that they deserve or will the media come up with excuses for Texans like they did with the Steelers.
I am fascinated by people's fascination with media respect. Why is it important for you that if your team is good the media laud it? Why does it matter?
I know the gap between Luck and Locker is HUGE. What do you make of the fact that Luck had to basically be perfect to beat the Raiders and Locker was unimpressive and the team beat Pitt? Is the supporting cast in Tenn much better than IND?
You're way overreaching. Means on one day, Titans played really well and Steelers didn't while Raiders were better than most of us anticipated they could be.
In my opinion, the Texans weakness is the secondary, shouldnt the titans flip their run to pass ratio from the steelers game this week?
No. Titans have to run to pass. If they have to pass two-thirds of the time, they are unlikely to have success. Now, they should find ways to take more shots for sure.
Is there any reason that the Titans havent really let Jake take any shots down field? He didnt in any preseason game and he didnt against the steelers, is that the offensive plan?
Preseason: Irrelevant. Steelers: One game. Hardly a trend.
Thinking about coming to Nashville, playing a stadium gig. Any good places to eat?
The Kuharsky residence for one.
Do you think that Locker is the best option for the Titans, or is Fitzpatrick going to eventually start?
Locker is very much the best option.
It appears to me and a lot of experts that Satele and McGlynn are the weak links of the starting O-Line for Indy. Considering Satele and McGlynn are easily replaceable, I believe switching Holmes with Satele and Thornton with McGlynn would be a low risk/high reward scenario for the Colts. Whats your input on that?
I haven't seen those guys at work yet. But if healthy, they certainly didn't draft them to not play. Doesn't have to be immediately.
Should we just consider this season a bust? I'm so tired of this. When will we be better
After Bradley and Caldwell get a chance to stock the roster. One offseason and one draft wasn't enough. They need a QB and a lot of upgrades.
Is it really fair to say the steelers played badly instead of the titans just playing good?
It was both.
So, you don't believe a hard fought game with the Titans losing close would be a success against what everyone believes is a far superior team?
It would be better than a blowout loss, sure.
Is the defense we saw sunday against the Steelers something that will be consistent from the Titans for the rest of the season?
How could we know?
how do you think the OL played last week? with CJ2K find some of the holes he saw in the pre-season?
Pretty good. Even this version of the Steelers won't be easy to run against.
What do you see as the reason for CJ's recent low YPC numbers. Is it him, or do you see something in the Titans' O-Line, blocking scheme, etc...?
Last year he didn't run well and the line was bad. This year they played against the Steelers.
What do you think will happen with Michael Preston he has proven to be a threat every time he steps on the field.
He's not going to get in front of any of the five receivers ahead of him as a receiver. So he's going to be inactive a lot.
Assuming Shonn Greene is healthy will Jackie Battle get any carries? Did he earn some Sunday?
Maybe. He got his work because Greene was hurt. You don't take Greene carries away because he was hurt.
Do you see Britt being a consistent threat at any point this season? Or was last week the beginning of them parting ways with the talented/troubled receiver? Or maybe resign him on the cheap?
Odds are he will fash tantalizingly at some point, disappear, repeat.
Should we just tank for bridgewater? My mental state can't handle many more losing seasons
No one tanks. (That's a Jaguars question.)
I thought Akeem was supposed to be the blizting linebacker
He's going to rush a lot. Was still having ankle issues. Wasn't part of nickel as he will be.
Is it time for David Stewart to step down seems as though he lost a step?
Step down in favor of whom?
I predict Kenny Britt in St. Louis next season, what say you?
I think it's too easy to draw a line from every guy who was on the Titans with Fisher in Tennessee straight to St. Louis.
What are the Titans plans for Justin Hunter this season? Is he going to be a near permanent Healthy Out or could he see significant playing time soon?
Those are polar opposite choices. He'll play sometimes and he won't play sometimes, I would imagine.
What is the primary difference between playing LG and RG on the o-line? By that I mean would it make sense to switch up where Warmack and Levitre play based on where Watt is lining up this week?
For the Titans, the left guard pulls more and the left side is more finesse while the right side is more power. They aren't moving people around based on matchups. Part of the reason they drafted Warmack is because he's a strong enough guy to have a chance to fare well against Watt.
Are you in awe with the development of Z. Brown? He seems to be really coming on strong.
Yeah, outside of stuff like what Watt did last year, what Manning did Thursday night, I don't do a lot of awe.
Turner is the weakest link on our O-line. (Tough game vs McLendon) is Schwenke in any position to win that spot at C in the near future and be more productive?
Was one game. Schwenke could challenge down the road if Turner struggles.
I saw that insider piece about the titans possibly making playoffs could you reveal it for us non-insiders?
I will post on it later.
Do you believe David Stewart should loose his starting role he has lost a step through his injury last season. Ive seen locker hit many times last game because of Stewart not being quick enough.
I'm not for firing guys or pulling guys from lineups unless you can tell me who replaces them. And Mike Otto or Byron Stingily are not better alternatives.
PK do you have any thoughts on how BWW played on Sunday? I know he wasn't on the field much
Think he played every special teams play and did fine.
The Titan defense was able to basically destroy the pitt o-line for five sacks on "Big Ben". How do you think they fair against houston's protection and what is the biggest concern on d going against houston?
The biggest concern on D is Andre Johnson. Hard to contain. Steelers are a power line. Texans are more of a movement line. Different challenges.
Do you think this coaching staff is good at developing players? i.e. Tommie Campbell not winning a starting job.
I think it's not good at developing Campbell and it's terrible at over-hyping him. But it's developed Jurrell Casey and Zach Brown just fine so far, don't you think?
Will we see any read-option with Jake Locker and Chris Johnson? There is tons of potential for that setup.
A snap here and there.
How do you like our safeties so far? Griffin compared to last year? The additions of Pollard and Wilson?
Better. Hardly the best combo in the league.
How do you envision Mr. White making his way to New Hampshire after Hanks passing?
I think he uses Saul's guy, the guy who was going to help Jesse disappear.
The Titans need their own chat? They are a horrible team.
Yes. ESPN is going to not have chats on any teams you don't like. Effective next week.
Do you believe the Titans play action ability is better than last year? It seemed like Phillip Rivers didn't have the ability to make the Texans pay when the Texans brought the house. Can Dowell Logains put a game plan together that will actually work against such a quick defense like the Texans?
Good question. They should be a lot better at play-action. They didn't do much of it in Pittsburgh -- four or five plays. I'd expect more at Reliant Stadium.
Less than 2 weeks until the premier of Nashville. You excited?
Like it, but not excited for it the way I am for Breaking Bad.
So, I've spent $100 million dollars on this team during the offseason. They know my expectations and that I want to win and win now. Give me a reason why I should or shouldn't blow this team out (or the coaches and front office) if we lose early in the playoffs or miss entirely?Signed (with the middle finger)Bud Adams
If you lose early in the playoffs, you will have gone from 6-10 to the playoffs. That's a pretty good step forward. If they don't make the playoffs, despite your love for Munchak, you could well make a change.
Do you think verner has made strides in his man coverage I am holding my breath on every pass play.
Yes he's made strides. He was very good in Pittsburgh.
Who leads Tenn in sacks this year? Got a number in mind?
Morgan, 10 or 12.
Might we see more option plays, they were pretty successful with vy and cj?
They aren't doing anything because of anything VY did. They will mix option in here and there, I believe. They had one good one in Pittsburgh.
Do you agree with me when I say that the most important off season addition to the Titans was Greg Williams and Bernard Pollard?? Seems like they brought a toughness to Nashville
I need Pollard's toughness to be in his play as much as his words. I bet the Texans, who gave up on him, try to throw at him.
That being said maybe we see more George Wilson this week on passing downs and pollard mostly in blitzing and running plays
I think they may end up there ultimately. I doubt it's before Pollard has any coverage issues in the regular season.
You don't think J. Casey will lead in sacks or keep up his production? He seems to be more consistent than Morgan.
I think a good pass rushing end should have more sacks than a good pass rushing tackle. Casey will be productive and disruptive. He's not going to get two sacks a game.
The biggest challenge for the Titans this week will be to contain Andre Johnson. The Chargers seemed to give him to much space at the LOS and he made them pay with his size. Do we have a corner that you feel can give him more of a headache? I know that he won't be taken out of the game, but if we give him five or ten yard cushions, it's going to be a long day.
He moves around, so all the Titans DBs will have to contribute to slowing him.
With the Titans placing Mariani on IR, do you see Reynard on the roster next season as the returner?
How can I make predictions about next year's roster without knowing how guys do this year, how the team does this year and who the coach and GM will be next year?
Per Gray, this should be the game Campbell gets more PT
Munchak basically shot down the idea Gray kept giving volume too where there could be different starters at CB in different weeks.
That being said ^ shouldn't Munchak and his Coordinators be on the same page?
Yup. Gray's not especially good at that in public comments. Which is one of the reason they trot him out as little as possible.
When is McCarthy going to take back the starting middle linebacker spot?? Just my opinion but last year the games this guy played in, he was always around the ball and looked to be one of the better ML in the game
Yeah, you overrate him. He's a good player who can't stay on the field. Moise Fokou was very good in Pittsburgh, They are not looking to replace him.
It seemed like the Chargers could not get to Schaub at all. Is their D that bad or is the Texans O'line that good? Or is the Texans Offense that fast?
Chargers' D is not that good. Texans' O line is pretty good. Texans offense is pretty fast.
If Vince Gilligan wrote a script for a new power rangers show would you watch it?
At least one episode.
JJ Watt may be a smart football player, but a terrible fantasy football team owner. I mean who drafts a Defense in the first round? (The League). Who did you draft with your first pick?
I drafted Peterson No. 1 overall in one league, and Richardson No. 7 overall in another. I don't watch The League.
The titans should have a DE go at schaub on those play action boot legs. They do it so much and most of the time DE's don't follow Schaub. It's the most Texans play ever
What are the DEs doing if they aren't chasing the rolling out quarterback?
Will you be in Houston this weekend?
Did you request to cover the Titans or was it appointed to you?? What team were you a fan of growing up?
Grew up in New Jersey, rooting for the Giants. Long been a fan of no team. I root for my picks to be right. I root for good guys to do well. I root for good storylines. I came to Nashville to cover the team in 1997. It's home now. I have a family that loves it here. I have a radio job, too. Wasn't looking to leave.
Its lunch time, thanks for answering my questions Mr. Kuharsky its been fun.
Thanks to all of you for coming by.
