Chat with Mike Alvarado

Mike Alvarado
  (2:35 PM)

Thanks for joining me for this chat. Let's get started!

Rios/Alvarado3 (Florida)

Hows the Vibe like in Denver surrounding the fact that big time boxing is in the city? There's the Broncos and Now Mile High Mike

Mike Alvarado
  (2:36 PM)

It's very energetic. People are hyped out here and I know that they will be even more hyped the night of the fight. The support they are giving me is wonderful.

Davis (Boston)

Is it smart for your career to take a 3rd fight in a row that has the potential to be an all out War?

Mike Alvarado
  (2:37 PM)

It's another great fight for me. It is a fight that can turn into an all out war. But I can box and I plan of boxing. I think my boxing skills will help keep this turning into a war so to speak.

Leo (Newark, DE)

What do you see in Provodnikov that you think you can exploit?

Mike Alvarado
  (2:39 PM)

I believe that I can exploit his weakness in boxing. In defense. I think he'll have a hard time adjusting to a boxer instead of a slugging. So I think my overall boxing skills is what will be the main difference.

James (Portland, ME)

I know you wrestled a lot of your life, do you follow mma at all and would you ever be interested in trying it, or is it strictly boxing from here on out

Mike Alvarado
  (2:40 PM)

It's strictly boxing from here on out. I thought about MMA since wrestling is a huge part of my background. But I'm at the highest level in boxing so why should I switch things up now? I love boxing.

James (Portland, ME)

Seems like you're a broncos fan....you're welcome for Wes Welker (NE fan, lol)

Mike Alvarado
  (2:41 PM)

LOL! Thanks! Wes and Peyton are a good team.

alex (CA)

You are my favorite fighter. You are the reason that I started boxing. I've been an amateur boxer for 3 years, what's the best tip can you give me to become a better fighter?

Mike Alvarado
  (2:42 PM)

Just stay consistent. Continue to work hard and everything will fall in place.

Ryan (Denver)

After beating Provodnikov, would you rather face Bradley, Marquez or Manny (assuming he beats Rios)?

Mike Alvarado
  (2:46 PM)

I would rather fight Pacquiao because he's the bigger name right now. But Bradley would be a good fight too. He looked good in his fight against Marquez.

craig (houston)

any disappointment that Rios gets the big Pacquiao payday after you won the last fight?

Mike Alvarado
  (2:47 PM)

I was a little disappointed but I'm over it now. I'm focused on the fight in front of me. Those big fights will come down the line.

Rick Houston Texas [via mobile]

Wus up Mike good luck Saturday nite. Who was favorite fighter growing up?

Mike Alvarado
  (2:48 PM)

My favorite fighters growing up were Mike Tyson, Oscar De La Hoya and Felix Trinidad.

Jason (Boulder, CO)

Is there anyone out of your gym that we should look out for on the undercard?

Mike Alvarado
  (2:49 PM)

Yes, Manny Lopez who is 4-0 and David Escamilla who is 2-0.

Jason (Boulder, CO)

What is your take on Danny Garcia, would you KO him early or just beat him to a pulp for 12 rounds?

Mike Alvarado
  (2:50 PM)

That would be a great fight, he's a great champion. I think I would outbox him.

Julian (Dallas/TX)

Clearly Manny was ducking you, what are your thoughts about that?

Mike Alvarado
  (2:52 PM)

I know Manny had his options. I believe that he regrets taking Rios as an opponent. It was a little disappointing at first but these fights will be available in the future.

Mike Alvarado
  (2:52 PM)

Thanks everybody for all the support. I look forward to giving you a good fight Saturday night.
