Matt is here!

brandon birdsboro pa [via mobile]

How does it feel to be driveing a toyota compared to a ford?

Matt Kenseth
  (3:57 PM)

It's really hard to compare because of the first year of the generation six car.

Howard (Bristow, VA)

GO Matt bring home the Cup to JGR!! The next 2 races are the biggest contrast in NASCAR, biggest circuit followed by the smallest circuit. Which track do you prefer and why?

Matt Kenseth
  (3:58 PM)

I'll let you know in a couple of weeks.

Lenny (NYC)

Do you ever sit in Mr. Gibbs' office and just chat football?

Matt Kenseth
  (3:58 PM)

Joe likes to chat football, so since I've been there since December we've probably talked football as much as racing.

Kevin (Boston)

Matt in the closing laps of a tight race you are leading, are you 100% focused on your marks and staying smooth or are you also looking in the mirror to see what your opponent is doing?

Matt Kenseth
  (3:59 PM)

At most race tracks, you'll look in the mirror, you'll see what kind of distance you have, but once you get into the corner, you're looking out the windshield.

Bond1911 (Lexington,Ky) [via mobile]

Where is your best chance for another win in the remaining races?

Matt Kenseth
  (4:00 PM)

That's hard to say. I've been surprised a lot. My team has been giving me such fast race cars, even at tracks that haven't been typically great for me. I don't know, hopefully we get another one.

Joshua (Charlotte )

How do you plan to race this week with only having a 4 point lead?

Matt Kenseth
  (4:01 PM)

My hope is that our car will be fast and we'll be able to stay up front and stay ahead of any potential trouble. I'm hoping to run up front and stay up front.

collin leibham (elkhart lake)

what do you have to do in the next 4-5 weeks to win the chase? what is your strategy to stop Jimmie Johnson and Dale Earnhardt Jr.?

Matt Kenseth
  (4:02 PM)

As good as our competition is, I feel like we need to run in the top 3, probably every week. If nobody has any trouble, you need to be in the top 3.

Alyssa (PA)

What is your favorite win from this year?

Matt Kenseth
  (4:05 PM)

There wasn't a bad one. I would have to say right now New Hampshire. It was my 500th start. It was pretty cool that they did that with the paint scheme. And it was at NH which hasn't been one of my better race tracks. It was special.

Jim Schwery (Logan Iowa)

How are you holding up mentally righ now with the points lead??

Matt Kenseth
  (4:06 PM)

It really hasn't changed. I think the picture is a little bit clearer, because anything can happen there. It will be easier to answer that than. But anything can change before it's all said and done.

Austin (Albany, NY)

How often throughout these chase races are you asking or being informed about where other guys in the chase are? Like the 48 especially, since he you two have clearly distanced yourself from everyone else?

Matt Kenseth
  (4:06 PM)

No, never. I have enough to worry about, other than worrying about other people. We just try to do the best with what we can control. We want our car to be the best it can.

Kurt (Nashville)

This past race your car wans't working all that great at the start of the race. Your team turned it around toward the end and finished ahead of Jimmie Johnson after he had a domminant car for most of the race. Do you feel this is a huge blow to the 48 team going forward?

Matt Kenseth
  (4:08 PM)

I can't comment on Jimmie's team, but it was a good day for us. We started the race off a bit. We didn't qualify well. We were in position to win the race in the end and finished third. That was a good comeback. We needed that. It was good to get that finish and hopefully it will get some momentum going forward.

Brian (Virginia)

I'm a big fan of tracks with creative trophies, stuff like the New Hampshire lobster or the Martinsville grandfather clock, which track do you think gives out the best trophy?

Matt Kenseth
  (4:09 PM)

I've never gotten a bad one. I think the Daytona 500 is probably the most coveted trophy. But the grandfather clock at Martinsville, I'd like to get one of those. I've never gotten one. Jimmie probably needs another house to store all of them. Maybe he could let me borrow one.

Ric (Waunakee, WI)

Good luck from your home state! Hoping you get back here to race next year. Saw Ross make his ARCA debut. And like Ross, I'm a Bear fan. Wondering how you are doing in your fantasy football league?

Matt Kenseth
  (4:10 PM)

Matt Kenseth
  (4:10 PM)

Great start. Hopefully we can keep it going. Although Julio Jones hurting his foot doesn't help.

Matt (Iowa)

Whats your favorite Five Finger Death Punch song? And how confident are you that the packers can stil make the playoffs with all these injuries?

Matt Kenseth
  (4:10 PM)

Fairly confident.

Larry (VA) [via mobile]

When you think Ricky Stenthouse will win ib your old number 17 and how good do you think he will be?

Matt Kenseth
  (4:12 PM)

Ricky is really, really talented. He keeps getting better on the Cup side. Everybody knows that he can do it. He's young. It's always fun to watch the progression of the young drivers.

Brian (Atlanta)

How did you feel after Keselowski slid way up onto you front fender at Charlotte? How do you deal with racers driving very aggressively around you while racing for the championship?

Matt Kenseth
  (4:13 PM)

I don't think it's much different than before. When you go out there to race, there are 43 cars to start and they all want to finish as high as they can. Everybody needs to get results for a variety of different reasons. I feel like it's the same.

Vinnie (ATL)

You come across as stoic, but true fans know you are a prankster. Give us one of your favorite pranks on a fellow driver. You don't have to tell us who the joke was on.

Matt Kenseth
  (4:13 PM)

Honestly, I'm not big on pranks, just because I don't like pranks pulled on me.

rex (pa)

Favorite all-time Metallica song?

Matt Kenseth
  (4:14 PM)

Master of Puppets.

Casey B (Johns Island SC) [via mobile]

What changes to the upcoming seasons would you want?

Matt Kenseth
  (4:15 PM)

I don't know, I've been pretty happy with the way things have gone this year.

Gavin (Middletown, RI)

Matt, do you think Chase contenders will race up front or stay towards the rear at Talladega until the final 25 or so laps?

Matt Kenseth
  (4:16 PM)

I don't really know what everybody else's plan is. I think a lot of times you make a plan and it changes, depending on how the race is. I hope everyone races up front. Sooner or later, everyone will try to get to the front and it will be exciting to see.

Jeremy (Nashville)

How much are you able to watch your son race these days? And is he going to try to defend his All American 400 title this November?

Matt Kenseth
  (4:17 PM)

Not a lot. I've probably been to 3-4 races of his live this year. With us both racing on the weekends, it's hard. But I keep up with him.

Matt Kenseth
  (4:18 PM)

I appreciate your support. Thanks for chatting!
