Three of my receivers are Cobb, Wayne, and Amendola. Help.
There, there. There there. Better?
Honestly, this year more than ever if you have to lose a position, better to lose a stud at WR than RB. There's just no RB. Cobb and Wayne are tough, you knew what you were getting into with Amendola.
How good of a keeper do you think Knowshon Moreno will be for next year? Do you trust him fully yet to keep getting 75% of the Broncos' RB touches?
Yes on 75% this year - Hillman with another fumble last night and a bad one. Ball didn't even sniff the field. As for next year, a lot depends on what happens this year. Don't thiink he's locked in as the definite starter next year. That could either way. Could easily see them draft someone, sign someone in free agency or work more with Ball.
Would you use your top waiver claim on a dropped Randall Cobb or this week's top pickup Roy Helu?
Of those two? Helu. Cobb can't come back until week 15
Good morning. Just a statement - I have 5 guys on Bye this coming week.
Yeah, this week is gonna be brutal...brace yourself.
Is Jordan Reed a legit start for the rest of the year?
He's a low end TE 1 - in that 8-12 range. 3rd straight game with 6 or more targets, Fred Davis was a healthy scratch yesterday. They like him a lot there and he's sort of filling the Santana Moss role from last year in that offense...
Cleveland defense going forward...schedule looks tough, not as good recently. Keep or pick up Dallas D, schedule looks lighter.
Prefer the CLE D still. Jury still out on DAL D
Good morning. In my matchup, I am winning by 1 point, his players have all played and I only have the Vikings D left. Should I play them and hope it isn't negative or sit them and hope there isn't a stat correction?
Yeah, that's a tough one but in general, I think I'd play the D. Given the NYG issues at RB and Eli's turnover issues, feel you're fairly safe and I hate worrying all week about stat corrections.
I got tired of the headache that is CJ Spiller and traded him away last week for Alfred Morris. Should I be worried about Morris' lack of touchdowns, especially with Helu getting three short ones on Sunday?
I'm trading FOR Morris in any league where there is a worried owner. Still averaging over 5 yards a carry, he'll get his. It's not like he hasn't been scoring TD's. Yesterday was the result of a bunch of different factors - Morris tired at end of drive, them wanting to go no huddle and Helu a better fit for that and not coming off the field, they DO like him in the RZ. Helu is no longer just a handcuff to Morris but in the Flex RB conversation.
Oops. I forgot my rule of not taking questions where people use the lame hacky thing as pretending to be the actual person. Next question.
How long do you think Finley Will be out for? That was a scary injury.
It really was. Best wishes for him. To be honest, my guess is when he's getting back on the field is the last of Finley's concerns right now. I have no idea when he is coming back and it wouldn't surprise me if we've seen his last football play. Fingers crossed and best wishes for him, but persinally, I would be making other plans.
Any word early this Monday on Bradshaw for tonight?
Believe he is still out for the year and was last seen playing for Indy. Jacobs, howver, is listed as doubtful.
Jacoby Jones or Marlon Brown moving forward?
I prefer Brown but hard to count on anyone other than Torrey in that offense. He's the only guy I'm starting with confidence. I'm still starting Rice, I just have no confidence.
Does Jarrett Boykin have value after a great game, even when Jones and Cobb are back?
Yes, I beleive so. Now, to that point, Joe Haden was on Jordy and James Jones was out. BUT... injury to Finley opens up middle of the field and we've seen that that offense can support 3 legit fantasy WR. I spoke about Boykin on Fantasy Football Now Sunday morning. I like him.
Hi Matthew! If I find a way to plug your new york times best selling book "A Fantasy Life" which is available anywhere books are sold can you answer my question? What do you do with T Rich and Ray Rice at this point? Disappointing and going into a bye for both of them...
Well done. I don't know that there is much TO be done with either guy. If you could get 60-70 cents on the dollar I'd be open to trading either. But, at this point, especially with Rice, you're probably better off holding tight and hoping for best. Upside of either guy higher than whatever you can get in a trade.
How much of your $100 FAAB budget would you spend on Chris Ivory?
Not much. Still injury prone, no guarantee they go away from Powell totally, not a great schedule going forward. Whatever.
Is Kenbrell Thompkins worth dropping for Percy Harvin moving forward?
Absolutely. Gronk's return hurts Thompkin who won't get as many RZ looks. KT's TD's were best part of his fantasy game so far.
Harry Douglas, is he a must start moving forward?
Would not call him a "MUST START." Think he's an interesting guy given ATL pass game volume and Julio out for year. But Roddy will be back soon, they won't always double Gonzo the way they did and ATL will face better defense's than TB. You've also seen his best game of the year. All that said... he's the #2 WR on a team that passes the ball over 40 times a game with a good QB. Definitely must own. Top 30 WR
desperation start: Hillis or Cox?
Part of the pause between questions in this chat is I've been going back and forth with Dan Graziano, who covers the NYG for our NFL Nation and is a fantasy player himself - he's terrific. He says - educated guess now - that's it's Hillis. They trust him more in pass pro than Cox, he's familiar with system thanks to time with Mike Sullivan in TB... so it's a super desperate roll of dice, but looking like Hillis is your guy.
Looks like Doug Martin is out for the season. Wow. Pick up Mike James?
Yeah, still waiting for confimration but hearing multiple reports that Martin is out for the year. Brutal end to a tough year for Martin. James would be the pick-up but keep in mind that A) Martin wasn't very good this year to begin with in TB's offense. B) Mike James is not as good as Doug Martin. Add him, sure, because he's likely to get majority of work and any RB has some value, but I wouldn't be falling all over myself to get him
hey Matthew, should i drop wallace for boykins, douglas or t.williams?would you drop miller for helu??....thanks
Would not drop Wallace for any of those 3, but it's close, which speaks more about Wallace than it does the other three. I do like all 3 guys you mention and can't stand Wallace, but Wallace is more established. Sadly, Miller for Helu is a serious consideration. I like Lamar Miller but results are results. They just won't commit to LM full time
Why wasn't payton charged with a fumble in last nights game which resulted in a safety and me being defeated by 1 point.
I honestly don't know. I will ask.
Hey Matthew,Thoughts on Josh Gordon and Justin Blackmon? I was burned bad by them this week, and Gordon's schedule looks brutal.
Still believe in the talent of both guys quite a bit. Prefer Gordon to Blackmon. Gordon is a special talent - even elite guys have clunkers once in a while.
Over the weekend I had fun reading the #fantasylife on tweets on twitter but after last night I realized a dark side to fantasy life. At some point yesterday, I noticed that after I see a player get hurt, my first concern was who was it and is he on my or my opponents team. My next thought was how can I use this, to better my team via pick ups or trades. It wasn't until after Finley's injury I realized this and felt disgusted with myself. Even while writing this, I read about Martin possibly being out for season and my first thought was "Crap, now what do I do?" No question just an observation.
I hear you. But I don't know that that problem is exclusive to fantasy. There is a tendency to view people in public eye as objects, not people. Fantasy owners, Packer fans, whoever... many people saw Finley's injury and they're concern was not immeadiately of Finley. Even the announcers in that game didn't really speak to the injury that much. I see it on Twitter/Facebook/Instagram as well. People say things on there to athletes and others they would NEVER say to their face in public. Because at the end of the computer is an object in their mind, not a person. There's an old saying - "Everything in moderation." It's true for anything, fantasy football included. Fantasy is not perfect, but the majority of it (comraderie, competition, friendship, increased awareness and enjoyment of sport, etc) is pretty good. Thanks for the comment
Follow up on Harry Douglas. Would you be starting him over Larry Fitzgerald moving forward?
Not in general but given match-up it's not out of the question.
Matthew, you were big on Emmanuel Sanders. I've been holding onto hope he may break out. If Reggie Wayne is out for the year would you drop him to pick up Heyward-Bey?
Yes, I was and sadly, it's looking like I was wrong on him. I would make that move, yes. Sorry about that.
Hillis or Jerome Simpson tonight?
Prefer Simpson... We just don't know what Hillis can do, if anything, does he last the game, etc etc.
Matthew my dude, hit me up with some Le'Veon Bell thoughts?!
Thought he looked really good. Solid RB2 going forward....
To follow up to Brent's question: Andre Brown, Hillis, Scott, or Wilson....who should I drop Cox for before tonight's game?
If I needed one guy tonight, I'm dropping for Hillis. If it's for rest of season, Brown. Who knows what is going on with Wilson. Right now - and it's a fluid process - but feel like there's too much unknown about Wilson to expect him to do anything this year.
Is Miles Austin droppable in a 12-team standard league?
Ok gang, gotta run, lotta news going on! Thanks for stopping by. I'll try to answer more questions on twitter www.twitter.com/matthewberrytmr or www.facebook.com/matthewjberry
