Keep sending in questions, I'm about to get started
Ok let's get started
What do you see as the problem with the TCU offense? Is it coaching? I hate to blame the O-Line, but the rushing stats say it is a problem. Is it the RBs that can't seem to get substantial gains? Is it the WR that are having issues with drops? Is it a QB issue? Is it just a combination of a bunch of factors including maybe a few that I am missing?
I think it is a combo of all of the above. I think the lack of success is rooted in the offensive line though. That group has had issues that are hard to overcome and have success.
Which do you prefer: A team that wins all its games or one with losses but lots of "style points"?
Winning is all that I care about.
Hi Brandon, son just took job in Stillwater How big is Oklahoma vs state game each year. He is a va tech grad so experience with pretty good team and avid fan base
Bedlam is a great atmosphere. You should tell your son to check it out, he won't regret it.
any truth to the story that AD at WVU Is hightailing it to tx?
I wouldn't be surprised.
predictions for OSU v tech and baylor/OU game?
I think both home teams win, so Tech and Baylor earn Ws.
What do you see being the biggest matchup in the BU vs OU game? OU's secondary against Baylor's speedy receivers? OU's front 7 against BU's rushing attack? OU's RB's against Baylor's front 7? What group in your opinion will be the difference makers in this game? I know we still have a week...but I think we can all say we are very excited for this game, best B12 game so far this season.
I'm looking forward to this game as well, Drew. I think the game will be decided by OU's front seven against Baylor's running game. Seastrunk and the BU rush attack make the whole offense go in my opinion.
With Baylor playing 3 or even 4 ranked teams in the remainder of their season, if they win out could they jump the other undefeated teams for the second spot in the natty?
They could but I don't think it will come to that. I have no reason to think all those teams will finish undefeated, too much parity in college football.
Good afternoon Mr. Chatmon. Seeing as though OU has no defense to stop Baylor, and little to no offensive firepower after loosing one of the best blockers in the B12 in Millard. How is there anyway the game stays close? And Yes, I am a die hard sooner fan.
Man, why so down on your team? I think OU's defense will be better at slowing down Baylor than most people think but the Bears will win a relatively close game.
Thanks for the great blog. What will you be looking out for in next weeks OU vs Baylor match up? How much will this game affect recruiting for OU?
Won't have a major impact on recruiting. I'll be watching to see which team runs the ball the best and who protects the ball the best. That will decide the game.
Chances OU will be able to run the ball/control the clock well enough to hold the Bears under 40 points?
If K-State did it, why can't OU? Just because the game is in Waco?
Can OU and Baylor move up the rankings this week without playing? And, how much of an impact will special teams play have on the OU/Baylor game? Who has the advantage?
Yes if other teams lose, they can move up. I think special teams could have a big impact on the game but I don't think it will decide the game. Baylor's special teams have the advantage
How will Tech handle the adversity after a loss.. How much of Kliffs experince as a starting QB with a 24-16 overall record in college be able to help his team..
I think Tech will be fine, particularly since it is Oklahoma State, a team they've had trouble with in recent years. I don't know that Kliff's record as a QB will play a major role.
B12 title goes to the winner of the Baylor UT game?? And Mack is gone if UT wins out or not right?
1) I doubt it will be that cut and dry. 2) Depends on how all of it plays out.
Hey Brandon, what is it going to take for Texas Tech to win the game this Saturday agaist OSU? Also, do you think if Texas Tech goes into 9-1 into week 12, College Gameday will come to Dallas for the showdown between BU and TTU?
I don't know about Gameday but neither team can lose if they want that to happened.... I think Texas Tech just needs to shut down OSU's running game and they will be fine, particularly at home.
Baylor is unlikely to get into the National Championship because of Oregan and FSU... but if they run the table, what is their ceiling, Orange bowl like KU in 08 or will they end up in a lesser bowl
If they run the table and don't make the title game, a Fiesta Bowl is probably in the cards.
Brandon, How do you think Tech's run defense will handle desmond roland and oklahoma states run scheme after oklahoma exposed them last week.
That's the big question. I think they will handle it better than last week. I think their defensive line will have more success against OSU OL than it had against OU's line. OSU has had issues along its offensive front for the entire season, I think TTU can take advantage of that.
Do you think Derrick Carr (Fresno State University Bulldog QB) has a chance for the Heisman?
0.1% chance. that's not to say he isn't worthy of consideration, he just needs a bunch of Heisman moments and there are too many guys ahead of him that he needs to stumble in November.
So, how good do you think Texas' offense can get by the end of the year if McCoy becomes a little better passer? They seem to show the potential with so many weapons at their disposal.
It's looked pretty good to me in the past two games...
Should we believe in Baylor...they have not played anyone yet. Horns or Bears win the Big 12?
Why not believe in them? What more could they have done? Bears are my Big 12 favorite right now.
Who has to step up the most on defense for Oklahoma to beat Baylor next week?
On your bowl predictions for this week, you have Texas slated to head to the Holiday Bowl. Meaning placing 5th in the Conference. With that prediction, are you stating that you believe Texas will drop the last 3 games of the season? And if so, why?
It's quite simple for me. They dug themselves a hole, they've got to dig themselves out. And they can by winning, it's pretty clear.
Was I that bad of coach? The Longhorns are now, through the past few games, one of the best defenses in the league and with me.......well, you know. What was I doing wrong?
Looks like it. But you aren't the first coach who tried to make the game harder than it needed to be. You have a BUNCH of friends in that camp.
Does Kingsbury have more leeway in taking risks at TT then if he was a head coach of another program and trying to establish himself as a head coach? I think he has a luxary being a TT icon that he wouldn't have coaching some where else and that allows him to take more coaching risks.
I don't think so. Regardless Kingsbury strikes me as the type of guy who would be trying to win regardless, doesn't seem like he's about that sitting back, letting people to things to him, I think he's a strike first type of guy.
If Nick Saban really wasn't interested in the Texas job, why wouldn't he just come out and say "I will never coach at Texas. Roll Tide!" Atleast he did that for Miami and he still left..
Would that change anything if he did? He'd still get asked the question over and over again. It will be a distraction regardless, that's just what it is.
Who will coach the Texas longhorns next year? Saban, Meyer, Muschamp, Briles?
none of the above
Wanna chat mon?
Yes, as a matter of fact I am currently participating this chat from Jamaica, thanks for asking.
Do you think Kliff Kingsbury should have pulled Davis Webb and put in Mayfield or even Brewer coming out of half time?
Do you? If so why? I thought Davis handled himself well. It strikes me as odd that Tech fans seem to always be trying to replace their quarterback when they're about to enter November with one loss in the first season with a new coach.... Lofty expectations in Lubbock I suppose.
Biggest obstacle in Baylors way? And do they jump Ohio State with a convincing win over Oklahoma?
I think everyone left on their schedule can present problems. I'm not ready to assume they just cruise past anyone. And, no.
12/7 Texas/Baylor is for Big 12 Championship?
Just that game? No.
How concerned should Tech fans be about the team allowing 2 straight big rushing games?
Very concerned. If they can't stop the run, their winning ways won't continue.
Is Baylor better than their record?
How is that possible?
I'm skipping practice for this: Will anyone slow me down this year? Will I ever play in the 4th quarter? Can Texas beat us?
Welcome, Lache, I'll try to make it worth your while. Yes, Yes and Yes. As much as I like you and your team, I don't consider you unbeatable. Why? because guys miss practice to participate in ESPN chats, I haven't received any questions from Blake Bell, Johnathan Gray or Tre Porter all year long...
Is Kansas State better than their record?
No. You are what your record states. That said, they should feel like they left some wins on the field, but that's part of the learning process.
Will OSU have more rushing yards than Tech this weekend?
yes, they better if they have any hope of winning.
Moving forward, who gives K-State the best chance to win consistently: Waters or Sams?
It's interesting you ask that Craig. I thought Sams was the answer but seeing how KSU used both last weekend, I think they should continue to use both. It just creates a lot of problems for a defense.
what is the matter with WVU football? Coach or players? or bothe?
I think it's a bunch of inexperienced players who don't know how to win. Watching the game against K-State, they just don't seem to know how to finish and you only learn that from being in those situations. Holgorsen and company deserve their share of the blame but I point to the lack of experience for the players
Will the Horns win out in Big 12 play and reach the Fiesta bowl?
I doubt it. This is the part of the season when the parity in the Big 12 will come to the forefront. I still feel like the Big 12 champion will have at least 1 conference loss.
Things are looking bleak for TCU. Even the defense has regressed. How many wins are left on the schedule?
I'd say two at this point. Which two? I dunno, but two wins.
Your pick for the WVU/TCU game?
TCU because they're at home.
What is with the QB play in Stillwater, I mean come on!!!!!?
They are struggling but I don't think it all falls on the quarterback. But if you expect play like Brandon Weeden or even Zac Robinson, two NFL QBs, your expectations are too high.
Ive read alot of your bowl projections and your week by week. You picked tcu over texas last week and i was wondering wheres the love for texas?
Texas just needs to keep winning and the love will come.
Does Bell have a career day against the Baylor defense in 9 days?
What chance do you give OSU on winning in Lubbock this weekend?
40 percent chance. It won't be easy
TT or Ok St?
Tech, I don't see them losing back to back games like that
How big would you boost okstate's chances of winning the Big 12 if we were to win our last away games at tech and texas. Baylor and Oklahoma are really good opponents, but playing at home always helps.
It would be huge. This weekend's game will speak volumes but the struggles at QB could come back to haunt OSU this weekend, I just have a feeling
How many times should I run the ball against Baylor, Im leaning towards 60
You better try to get to 60. I don't think you're going to make it though.
How in the world is UT not ranked after very impressive wins @TCU and against OU? OU is knocking at the Top 10 door for crying out loud. I know about the BYU lose but BYU has only lost two games and is not a bad team.
Just keep winning. You can't dig yourself a hole then just expect to climb out without obstacles. If they win every game left on their schedule will they need to worry about rankings at all?
Brandon, Tech fan here. I'll give Baylor props: if they win out, I think they deserve to play for the National Championship because they would have played and beaten OU, Tech, UT and OSU. How much do you think not having a Big 12 Championship game will hurt Baylor's chances to play for the National Championship?
No much. If that happens I think they will definitely be in the BCS title game because things will shake out that way.
Did you happen to see the headline in the Oklahoma State student paper?
I did. Odd to say the least.
The Big 12 may not be the best conference in college football, but at the moment it seems to be the most exciting. With as much attention to tv ratings and money that there is in college football now, is that more important?
Not necessarily. I think it matters but not more than winning and national titles.
Could the sudden departure of Tommy Tubberville wind up being the best thing to ever happen to Texas Tech football?
That's quite possible.
How much will Millard's absence affect OU going forward?
It's huge. A lot of their running success was behind Millard.
You don't think all those teams will win out. But what do you think are the odds that Baylor wins out?
about 53.2457 percent. I still feel like the Big 12 champ will have at least 1 conference loss.
Does OU really even stand a chance against Baylor? I don't think it will be close.
Yes. They tend to respond when nobody gives them a chance. I don't expect them to get run off the field in Waco.
Do you see Pachall making much difference for TCU's offense down the stretch?
I do but I don't know that he will turn the offense from horrible to great. More like from horrible to improving.
Ok, a few final questions
Give me 1 reason why UT can run the table
Case McCoy's been dropping dimes... No? How about because talent was never the issue and now they have been playing like a talented TEAM the past few games.
Brandon big fan, whats your prediction of the final three games for texas 0-3 1-2 2-1 3-0
UT goes 3-2 or 4-1 with the lone expected loss in both scenarios being Baylor
Who wins in an arm wrestling match between Max Olson and Jake Trotter? Olson is my bet seems like a scraper to me
Don't count out Trotter, he's feisty.
Are Colvin and Varrett your choice for 1st team All Big XII honors at this point in the season?
Though other candidates have a strong argument, like Justin Gilbert for one..
Brandon, we've seen the Bears lowest offensive output at K-State and it took a few drives for them to get going at Kansas. How nervous do you think Baylor Nation should be with the remaining games at neutral Cowboys stadium, at OSU, and at TCU? Is playing at OSU a tougher matchup than Texas in Waco?
That OSU game should be a concern, particularly considering their last trip or two to Stillwater.
How many OU fans are we expecting to make it down to Waco for next Thursday's game against the Bears? Is it going to be the most intense Big XII atmosphere so far this season?
I expect an amazing atmosphere. Should be something else even though it's a Thursday night game and requires some days off for many people. It will be worth it.
You don't answer any of the Texas questions accurately. How do you not realize that Texas coukd pull almost any coach they want? And your going to say Briles wouldn't take the job in a heartbeat?!? C'Mon man! Talk about being misinformed and biased!!
I'm thinking Kyle takes some of my answers a bit too seriously.
Brandon, just want to let y'all know that you and Jake do an excellent job on here! - Baylor's offense is obviously very fun to watch and has been getting 99% of the credit/face time. Is it safe to say that Baylor's defense is under-appreciated this season?
Thanks for the kind words Kip. I'd say that's fair, their defense has been pretty solid this year.
One final question
Why did they burn my redshirt in the TCU game when I'm no going to see that much playing time this year unless McCoy gets hurt ?
I don't know Tyrone, I was wondering the same thing. Maybe they decided the Big 12 title was actually within reach so they changed their mind. It doesn't make a lot of sense to me.
Hey Brandon, great work. If I compliment you first, will it quaruntee my question gets answered?
Thanks everyone, have a great day.
