Fantasy Injuries with Stephania Bell

Stephania Bell
  (11:47 AM)

Happy Friday and welcome to the injury chat! Looking forward to your questions...

Kevin (Dallas)

Peterson is dealing with a groin injury, I'm kinda nervous to start him this week. Do you think he healthy enough to start over Andre Brown? I got Z.Stacy, A.Brown and Peterson don't know who I gonna sit for this week..Sit one please!!! Thanks Ms. Bell

Stephania Bell
  (11:51 AM)

Kevin: As nervous as I am about Peterson and the groin injury - in terms of total productivity - unless we hear he's not going to play (and he says he is), you have to start him. Just too much potential there. I love Stacy this week too. And while I like Brown (a lot), there are multiple weapons in NY.

Roy (IL)

Jordan Reed. And it has to be the Monday night game against your Niners. What to do?

Stephania Bell
  (11:53 AM)

Roy: I get someone else. Don't trust Fred Davis much if he has to play in Reed's place. I'd rather get a fill-in (like Delanie Walker, available in a lot of leagues) than take a chance on Reed.

Eric (TO)

Locked into playoffs but fighting for a bye week. Do you think that Julious Thomas will give it a go?

Stephania Bell
  (11:55 AM)

Eric: My sense is that he'll be listed as questionable and it could be a gametime decision. That would make me very nervous and I'd be thinking along the lines of what I said with Jordan Reed.

Phil (NYC)

Nate Burleson - would you start him in his 1st game back over Aaron Dobson (potential shootout with Denver)? Not sure how much he could be involved after such a long layoff. PPR - thanks.

Stephania Bell
  (11:56 AM)

Phil: I would not, precisely for your rationale, unless I was absolutely stuck and then only at flex. I don't expect huge numbers from him anyway and I want to see how he looks before I put him in my lineup.

mario (el paso tx)

will crabtree play monday night

Stephania Bell
  (11:57 AM)

Mario: Not likely.

Barry (Miami)

Is Shane Vereen worth starting with the wrist injury over Rainey and Ridley?

Stephania Bell
  (11:58 AM)

Barry: The wrist not much of an issue any longer as we saw in his first game back (other than the one drop I attribute to the splinted hand). More of who you see getting more opportunities. I think Ridley still gets plenty of use. And you never know with Pats how they will divvy up the work. Like Rainey but don't expect the craziness of last week. I prob go Vereen.

Dave (Raleigh)

Is Garcon Ok? I know he tweaked his ankle in the last game and kept playing, albeit with limitations.. Now its Friday and nary a word on his condition or practice participation.. Thoughts?

Stephania Bell
  (11:59 AM)

Dave: He's not on the team's injury report from Thursday (their first one of the week given it's a MNF game) so presume he's a full go, no limits.

Paul (Denver)

Have you heard how Harvin recovered from his first game back?

Stephania Bell
  (12:00 PM)

Paul: A little bit of soreness but nothing unexpected. Nice long layoff with bye then Monday night game. They say no more restrictions once they return.

What happened to Amendola? I thought he was healthy and now he is Questionable?

Stephania Bell
  (12:03 PM)

JT: I think I mentioned this a few weeks back but just because he was back to full practices, etc didn't mean he was out of the woods with the groin issue. Still a possibility for it to flare up depending on how much work he does, even unpredictable things in a game. He's being held to limited practices but I don't take that as entirely a bad thing, just protective. Don't think his status is going to be in doubt for Sunday night.

Clint (Vero Beach)

Hello Stephania, any new info on Cutler since the removal of the cast? Got him on my bench for some good matchups in the playoffs. Don't trust Kaepernick right now and would like to see Cutler back.

Stephania Bell
  (12:05 PM)

Clint: Not really, other than that he's more mobile in a smaller splint obviously. I think chatter of the cast was overblown as many folks will use that early on to help control just how much a player can move the healing ankle. Still think he's a couple weeks away but no timetable from the team.

Matt (NJ)

Will Nicks go this week? Think he is a good play this week, say over Michael Floyd or James Jones?

Stephania Bell
  (12:06 PM)

Matt: The groin/abdominal injury has me concerned. He probably plays but he's hot/cold. After the week he had last week? I like Floyd.

Malek (Chi)

Is McFadden droppable? Im heading into the playoffs and he's my 4th rb.

Stephania Bell
  (12:06 PM)

Malek: Yes. Still not practicing. And how would you trust him going forward?

Ryan (YOU ARE 2 FOR 2!)

CONGRATS AGAIN! You continue to outdo yourself! your call of Douglas over Matthews worked again! haha? LETS KEEP IT GOING! Kendall Wright v. Oakland or Anquan Boldin v. Washington? THANKS!

Stephania Bell
  (12:08 PM)

Ryan: I have not been keeping score so am glad some of the picks here have fallen your way! Maybe we can even make it 3 for 3. I know Boldin has not done much of late but I think that changes against Washington. (Probably hopeful too since I love my Niners and I have Boldin on fantasy teams) but that's what I'm going with here.

Jeff (MI)

Rodgers back for Thanksgiving or is week 14 the more realistic timetable?

Stephania Bell
  (12:11 PM)

Jeff: Well, it's just guessing from this vantage point. There have been no follow-up reports with regards to just how well the bone is healing. Even if it looked good early, T-giving is just under 4 weeks since the injury which is pretty darn early in the healing process. Rodgers is doing some throwing so it's not a matter of function. The concern is taking a hit and landing on the shoulder with a worse outcome. That's what they will be discussing next week. Week 14 seems to make more sense but it could go sooner OR later, depending on the bone.

Nate (Cincy)

Who do you think will be better in the fantasy playoffs Crabtree or Harvin?

Stephania Bell
  (12:12 PM)

Nate: Harvin. He's up to speed. Crabtree may not see the playing field for another couple weeks.

Maya (Alabama)

Is Garret Graham a smart play over Jordan Reed?

Stephania Bell
  (12:13 PM)

Maya (who judging from my feed has multiple names, hmmm): Yes. Mostly b/c his status is not in doubt...and that's the main issue.

Miguele (Sicily)

What's going on with Santonio holmes? A WR4 to trust?Grazie

Stephania Bell
  (12:15 PM)

Miguele: Define trust. If he's in as a WR4, then a worthwhile risk. It's not so much whether he'll play or not (seems he will), it's what Geno Smith will do combined with the fact that Holmes is clearly not 100 percent. Good chance he sees some targets, gets some receptions, would not count on a score.

Good morning Stephania, Any news on Baltimore's Ngata? Not sure if I should flex Garcon or Ivory against Baltimore. Thank you and have a wonderful day.

Stephania Bell
  (12:20 PM)

Good morning: Ngata still not practicing and after missing last week, seems like he could miss again. Tough call but I don't have a lot of confidence in Ivory. I prob flex Garcon.

Daniel (Seattle)

Are Ben Tates Ribs holding him back? I have Donald Brown to play in his place and I am wondering if I should start him over Tate?

Stephania Bell
  (12:21 PM)

Daniel: I'd go with Brown anyway based on his last performance and a Trent Richardson who was limied Thurs by a calf injury.

Doozer (Cashville)

Not an injury question, but just a good ol' fashion conundrum?I'm going to start Rivers but should I start KC Def against my Rivers or go with HOU against JAC? I feel like KC is the superior play but I'll sort of be canceling out points whenever Phil scores. Thoughts?

Stephania Bell
  (12:24 PM)

Doozer: Yes, I agree that KC is the better play...and a fired up KC at that. Defenses can pick up points and Rivers can still score. Next question is why not pick up another QB who might be available and who might have a better day (like Glennon)?

Stephania Bell
  (12:24 PM)

Mike: I'd go Boykin for the reasons I mentioned earlier.

Mark Shell (Harrisburg, PA)

Hey Stephania, any word on Denarius Moore?

Stephania Bell
  (12:27 PM)

Mark: Sounds like it's a shoulder injury that will not require surgery but the pain may limit him...and could keep him out Sunday. Hasn't practiced yet. I'd be finding a backup, just in case.

DSO (Columbus)

Hello, Any new on Dez or is this old news? I know back injuries come and go. Thanks

Stephania Bell
  (12:27 PM)

DSO: Old news but I think the rest this past week helped. Like his chances of a big game this week.

David (Iowa)

It seems the question is now IF Roddy White will return to form, not WHEN. Any chance he bounces back or it is time to throw in the towel & drop him?

Stephania Bell
  (12:32 PM)

David: Frustrating for fantasy owners but he's on the upswing in terms of health. He's going to draw the coverage though and I don't think he's particularly elusive right now. And Ryan not getting much time to set up throws. But I don't think I'd be dropping him. Some nice matchups coming up.

Bob Griff III (D.C.)

Roll with RG3 in a tough matchup or go with Glennon? Need the win! Appreciate it!

Stephania Bell
  (12:33 PM)

I like Glennon this week.

Doozer (Cashville)

Thanks for answering! I see your point - piggybacking on my last question then, would you start McCown over Rivers? He's the best QB on the wire -- no Glennon, Tolzien, Palmer, etc. Thanks!

Stephania Bell
  (12:34 PM)

I would start McCown

Lee (Portland, OR)

I'm looking for alternatives for Antonio Brown because of his matchup. Unfortunately, my options are Rueben Randle and Terrance Williams. It would sure help if either Hakeem Nicks or Miles Austin were not going to play, but both seem ready to go. Any thoughts???

Stephania Bell
  (12:35 PM)

Lee: I like Randle (hit or miss but mostly hits lately and with Nicks banged up I like Randle, even if Nicks plays). Williams hasn't done enough to be a threat and Austin returning makes that situation worse.

Robert (Tx)

Is Keenan Allen good to go? Deciding between him and antonio brown

Stephania Bell
  (12:35 PM)

Robert: Appears that way after practicing fully all week, yes.

Scott (NJ)

Is Miles Austin 100% healthy?

Stephania Bell
  (12:37 PM)

Scott: Now you know we can never really answer that question with confidence. I will say that he is as healthy as he has been. They held him out through the bye so that they could give him some extra cushion on time. But no one knows until he comes back just how well he'll hold up.

Ian (Hampton, VA)

Good morning Stephania. I have Cameron at TE and it seems that he isn't just that involved with ampbell at QB. I was thinking of picking up Carlson or Rivera to plug in for this week Heath Miller is available as well. Trying to keep hold on last playoff spot in or division.

Stephania Bell
  (12:39 PM)

Ian: Agree with you on Cameron. I think I lean towards Carlson. Rivera and McGloin definitely connecting but longer track record with Carlson. Either prob a decent option this week.

Glenn (Austin)

Hi, Stephania. Do you think Welker goes Sunday night? Also, the latest chatter on Cobb doesn't sound good. Do you think he plays in week 16? Thank you.

Stephania Bell
  (12:41 PM)

Glenn: Welker is on track to play...but he has not cleared every step and with concussions there is always a chance, even if small, that he could be a scratch. Cobb's return may depend on where the Packers stand. Not eligible until Week 15, if they're out of it he might not return. But he is making progress; just think no one wants to guarantee anything (understandably).

Frank (Chi)

Would you play Romo or Luck this week if you had both?

Stephania Bell
  (12:43 PM)

Stephania Bell
  (12:43 PM)

I have to run folks. Thanks so much for coming to the chat. Good luck in Week 12!
