Thankful for the chance to visit with you out on Tour
Greatful and thankful to have you as a friend! Greg
With the change in format to the schedule, any chance that Tiger's event in December will be turned into a WGC or PGA tour event and award FedEx cup points or does the man in red not want that?
Well they're changing venues after this year and going to FL. Haven't heard any plans of making it an official PGA Tour event any time soon. He's already got AT&T National July 4th week.
Let's see, making an 11 one hole after posting a 1, that has to be the ultimate ****, right? I mean, what could top that?
Nothing. And the poor guy thought he won a Mercedes! I say if you have a car on a tee box it has to be given ANYTIME a hole in one is made not just Sunday. That's false advertising!
Best swings on the PGA and LPGA?
Gary Woodland on the PGA Tour and I can't say on the LPGA because I haven't seen enough swings in person, but from what I've seen Beatrice Recari's is pretty solid.
MC- I don't pay as close attention to golf this time of year, but great to see Gerina Piller getting closer to her first victory. I hope she breaks through. Great talent, plus she got bias points with me at the Safeway Classic this summer when I marshalled. She was very friendly and interactive after hitting her ball outside the ropes and I had to assist.
She actually gave me two signed pictures for my boys who are now her fans for life! Also when I did a Q&A with her she danced at the end which hopefully will make it up on our page or ESPNW sometime next year. She's good people and her husband is a good guy too.
No more chats for the year? What will you do?
I still have videos to do and now I wanna play a bunch of golf! Also going to visit my mom and grandfather in PA for Christmas.
What is Tiger more thankful for this holiday... That the PGA changed a rule to use more "blind eye test" for movement of the ball or that his GF is not going to Sochi for the Winter Olympics...
NONE of the above. Rule change doesn't help him now. And you ever have a girlfriend who's trained her whole life for something and has it taken away? Was she fun to be around? Didn't think so!
Best swing= OVERRATED. Tom Purtzer had the best swing on tour for years and won exactly twice with it...
That's because hitting the ball doesn't mean getting it in the hole.
You mentioned Rickie Fowler's injuries this past season as being what held him back. If he is injury free this coming year, what type of year do you expect from him?
Two wins and contend for a major
If he stays healthy all year
Can I get in on that bet with Rickie Fowler winning a major? I'll even give him through 2015.
$5 friendly. You're on
Hands down, the LPGA blows away the boys in terms of fan interaction. They seem to get it.
Of the players ranked between 15th and 200th (purposely avoiding Tiger), who would you pick to make a 7 foot putt with everything on the line?
Any event Brandt Snedeker, Ryder Cup Ian Poulter
I've been to a few PGA tournaments and some mini-tour events over the years. Watching guys hit on the range I've noticed there's not much difference in how they strike the ball...the exception to that would be watching tiger practice stingers. Would you agree? I feel like the 80 yards and in game is basically what separates the PGA guys from mini tour players.
What separates the best in the world from everyone else is how many times they get up and down for par from what seems like a horrific tee shot or second shot. Where most of us walk away with a double or worse, these guys make par.
Well Stenson is 37 so he's off your list right now. I'll take Dustin Johnson, Jason Day, Jordan Spieth
Hello Michael, okay give me three players that haven't won a Major under 35 years old that we should watch for this year - my 3 would be Stenson, Jason Day and Sergio GArcia
Sweet! I won't let you forget it.
I know you won't!!
Has Jason Day announced whether he'll be donating some of his winnings to the relief efforts in Thailand?
He hasn't said exactly how much but said he would be using some to helping relief
Is what makes winning a major more difficult than winning a tour event the tougher field, harder course, or is it basically a mental thing?
I would say the course difficulty is first, then the mental thing, then the field.
I'll bet money that Lindsey competes in the Olympics. And thanks for the chats all year man. 2014 should be fun
Anytime. Thanks for being a part of them. I expect you next year as well. With just as must great insight as before. I also hope Lindsey makes it to the Olympics as well.
Is there someone on tour who is actually much nicer in person than most fans realize?
Vijay. People who get paired with him for a pro-am always walk away amazed.
I really appreciate your insight and how you respect both the players you cover and the game. Looking forward to more from you in 2014. Thanks!
Thanks Matt. Have a wonderful holidays.
What is your opinion on the Nedbank Golf Challenge going from an unofficial event with 12-18 players to an official European Tour event with 30 players. With Ryder Cup points on the line, will the Nedbank be more interesting than Tiger's tournament being held on the same dates?
Honestly I'm just not crazy about small field events like this counting towards Race to Dubai. The reason they don't have 30 man field events on the PGA Tour is because it's too elitist and the general public (along with the rest of golf) wouldn't go for it.
I think events like that are fine, but they shouldn't count towards season ending events like FedEx Cup or Race to Dubai. It's a marketing trick to try and get the big names to play in the Race. Not fair to the little guy.
What are your Tiger predictions for next year?
Tiger wins the Masters and it's win number 3 of the calendar year!
As a follow up to the Nedbank question, doesn't Tiger's tournament count for Official World Ranking points? Do you think this is the right policy because of the small invitational nature of the field?
It does count for OWGR points. I'm on the fence on that one. A four day tournament against a solid field should count for something, but again, it's the fortunate isolating themselves further from those trying to get there.
What is the general consensus about Natalie Gulbis's golf game? Did she really date Dustin Johnson?
Gulbis did date DJ but that was a while ago. She's getting married next month
Her swing has a lot of movement she's working on taking out and when she does she'll be much more consistent
Right now Gulbis is a solid golfer but NOT elite. Yet
Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas. Thanks for all the chats and see you next year!
