Hang on folks. Jairus is having a chat with Brian Dawkins.

Buzzmaster
  (12:10 PM)

Jairus is here!

Ryan [via mobile]

Have u heard thru the grapevine how many teams may be interested?

Jairus Byrd
  (12:11 PM)

No. I haven't heard anything.

Luke (TX)

What's the top thing you'll be looking for in a team that you sign with?

Jairus Byrd
  (12:11 PM)

The best fit where I can fit in. Where I can help a team win. Stability as well.

Nick (DC)

Who were the players you looked up to the most when you were growing up?

Jairus Byrd
  (12:12 PM)

I looked up to my dad. Aneas Williams.

Jordan (South Florida)

What is it like being a free agent? Is it similar to being recruited by colleges?

Jairus Byrd
  (12:13 PM)

I don't know. From what I hear, it can be exciting. It depends on your situation. I don't know what to expect. This is my first time. This is all new for me.

Kyle (FL)

When did you first think you had a chance to make it in the pros?

Jairus Byrd
  (12:14 PM)

Probably in college. When I got to college, I had some success and I realized it was a reality that I could make it.

Aaron (LA)

How weird would it be to play for another team?

Jairus Byrd
  (12:15 PM)

It will be extremely different. You spend so much time in one place. It will be a big change for me. To adapt and everything.

Jeff [via mobile]

Are u planning to meet with as many teams as you can ?

Jairus Byrd
  (12:15 PM)

I don't really know what the plan is. I'm letting my agent handle all of that stuff. I'm waiting to hear from him.

Ryan (LA)

What was your welcome to the NFL moment?

Jairus Byrd
  (12:16 PM)

I don't think I really did. Maybe against the Jets. It was welcome to the NFL. Learning to play the run game. I had a good game, I had a couple of INTs, but I did horrible against the run.

Jeff (Dallas)

Were you surprised at all when you weren't franchised?

Jairus Byrd
  (12:16 PM)

No.

April (Oregon)

Hey Jairus, Who's the toughest guy you've had to cover in your career?

Jairus Byrd
  (12:17 PM)

Probably Gronkowski or Jimmy Graham.

Dominic (NY)

Is EJ Manuel the real deal?

Jairus Byrd
  (12:17 PM)

Yeah, he can be the real deal for sure.

Dale (Ohio)

Could you see yourself playing for Coach Pettine again in Cleveland ?

Jairus Byrd
  (12:18 PM)

That would be cool. I wouldn't think anything crazy about it. Any opportunity right now is a great one. I'm taking everything in. Seeing what's out there.

Chris (Hollywood)

Do you view safety as the equivalent as QB on offense? You're back there calling shots seeing formations and have to think of contingency plans?

Jairus Byrd
  (12:19 PM)

I think it depends on the defense. On certain defenses. You are considered the QB. Making sure everyone's lined up. In some defenses, the LBs are the QBs.

manny (buffalo) [via mobile]

Is there still a outside Chance you resign with buffalo? If not what's one thing you'll miss. [Non football related]

Jairus Byrd
  (12:19 PM)

Yeah, the options are open. I'm keeping every door open. I will miss the food and the people the most about the city.

Greg (Chicago,IL)

Favorite genre of music?

Jairus Byrd
  (12:20 PM)

I like to listen to everything. Gospel, R-B. Everything. On game day, it depends on my mood. It could be gospel. It could be rap. It just depends on the mood.

Jamil (Tampa,FL)

If pro sports weren't an option, what career path do you think you'd take?

Jairus Byrd
  (12:21 PM)

I was majoring in political science. Maybe get into law. Politics. But I'm not really 100 percent sure. Maybe social work. There are a lot of things I want to get into, dealing with people.

Jerry (Chicago)

What do you think about coming to Chicago? We would love you to solidify out secondary! Please!! Thanks

Jairus Byrd
  (12:21 PM)

It would be a great opportunity. But we'll see what happens, who's out there. I'm just taking everything in, however it comes.

jason (dc)

please come to dc. we need secondary help like no ones business. ill buy you a chili half smoke at ben's chili bowl if you sign (they're delicious. bill cosby swears by them). thanks

Jairus Byrd
  (12:23 PM)

Great! As long as it's good food. If it's good, I'm down for it.

Kris (Key West, FL) [via mobile]

What type of player do you think Aaron Williams can be? What was it like mentoring him last season with his switch to Safety?

Jairus Byrd
  (12:23 PM)

He can be a great player. He has all of the tools needed to do that. It feels great to play with him. He wants to be great. I think he'll do a great job as last year was just a small look at what he can do.

Chris (Hollywood)

The best play I've ever seen by a DB was that interception you made against Miami at home on Thursday night to seal the game. Would you say that being a good DB is like offensive rebounding in basketball and how did you develop such great instincts?

Jairus Byrd
  (12:24 PM)

Thank you. The thing is preparation. Film study. Being able to get jumps on the ball like that. And it's a gift. You have to have hand-eye coordination. Depth perception is involved as well.

dan (maine)

What was it like playing for Oregon during college?

Jairus Byrd
  (12:25 PM)

It was a lot of fun. It was a great experience. The opportunity to play at a great college like that with all of the innovative stuff they have going on with Nike. It was a great opportunity.

Denis Albany [via mobile]

What's your favorite part of playing in Buffalo?

Jairus Byrd
  (12:26 PM)

My teammates. That was the best part. Being with them. The guys on defense coming together and having a great time. That was a great opportunity.

evan [via mobile]

What precautions do you take to deal with your foot? And do you expect it to be a concern amongst teams interested in signing you?

Jairus Byrd
  (12:26 PM)

No, it's not a concern. It's something that took time. Once it was good, I got out there. Now, I'm thankful and blessed to be healthy.

Barry (Pa)

Do you like what chip Kelly is doing in Philly? Do you think you can make an impact there?

Jairus Byrd
  (12:27 PM)

I think he's doing great things. Any time you can come in and take your team to the playoffs in the first year, that's great. I think they're headed in the right direction.

Joe [via mobile]

From where you've played in the NFL, what stadiums have the best fan atmosphere?

Jairus Byrd
  (12:27 PM)

Probably the Saints. I would say New Orleans.

Jairus Byrd
  (12:28 PM)

Thanks to the fans for asking your questions.
