ESPN Recruiting Insider with Craig Haubert

  (4:00 PM)

Welcome everybody, with the NFL kicking off tonight football season is now in full swing and it is great. I am glad you could stop by and join me and I hope to get to as many questions as possible so lets get started

justin (NYC)

Don't know much about Dedrick Epps, but after reading his coach say he's the best prospect he's ever had, and that he feels he's not getting anywhere near the respect nationally that he deserves, I guess this was a pretty big pickup for the Canes. My question is, will he be the only TE they pull this year, or will Gresham or Reuland end up at "Tight End U" as well?

  (4:04 PM)

Epps was a nice pick up for the 'Canes as he has the receiving ability to mtach the TE before him. The TE position at Miami is becoming a position where there are big shoes to fill and with time to learn Epps could feel those shoes.

  (4:05 PM)

It is very possible that Coach Coker could try and land another TE in this class as there are several good ones out there - check my take on the Epps verbal on the site

Matthew (Boulder, CO)

Hey Craig! Is Stafon Johnson going to play RB or Safety in college? Is that decision going to be effected by which school he chooses?

  (4:08 PM)

Johnson is a great athlete and where he will play will depend on the needs of the school that is recruiting him - and they will let Stafon know during the recruiting process what position they are looking for him to play

  (4:09 PM)

Also it depends on Stafon and what he would prefer to play and that could depend on where he can play the quickest or have the biggest impact

Jimmy (MD)

It seems to me that the talk of Logan-El jumping ship to PSU is getting louder. Are you hearing the same?

  (4:13 PM)

Logan-El joined us a while back and judging by the conversation we had during the chat it would seem very possible that he is going somewhere other then the Terps

  (4:14 PM)

Without him coming out and saying it, it certainly seemed he had a certain connection with PSU - now this is my opinion - but I believe Penn State is a serious contender for Logan-El

  (4:15 PM)

Check out Logan-El's report which was posted this week - he entered the ESPN 150

Chris (Cleveland)

I've heard Myron Rolle can excel at numerous positions. What do you see him playing in college and will he make an impact as a true freshman?

  (4:16 PM)

The reason we have Rolle ranked #1 is because he is capable of making an impact at several positions on both sides of the ball

  (4:18 PM)

He has stated that he wants to play defense, and many see him as a safety. However, we feel he will play corner, because he has that type of ability and corners his size don't come around very often

Joey (Florence, AL)

Can you talk some about Alabama recruiting?

  (4:20 PM)

So far the Tide are off to a solid start - I am a big fan of LB Charlie Higgenbotham, this is a kid who has a nose for the ball

  (4:22 PM)

OG Taylor Pharr is also a nice pick up for the offensive line. Remember there is still time till signing day, and many top recruits are waiting till after the season to committ.

Jeff (Rapid City,SD)

Hey Craig, How will Nebraska's recruiting class match up to big XII rivals OU and Texas, and the rest of the nation?

  (4:26 PM)

Coach Callahan proved last year he has not lost his touch when it comes to recruiting. They are off to a nice start this year with some solid verbals from the likes of QB Josh Freeman, LB Jeff Souder, and WR Menelik Holt

  (4:28 PM)

As far as comparing to the rest of the Big 12 - it is to be seen. Texas is off to a real good start, and Oklahoma, A&M, OSU, and Texas Tech have also put together nice early classes

John Smith (Bradenton,FL)

Will top recurits committ to Florida if Meyer's shows he has a winning system

  (4:30 PM)

Top recruits are already committing to Florida. If Coach Meyer can keep winning it will only make it easier.

Jeff (Happy VAlley)

LeSean McCoy is one of the top RB's in the country from Harrisburg, PA...will he stay close to home and join Justin King and D-Will at PSU?

  (4:33 PM)

Hard to say if McCoy will land in Happy Valley for sure - but they are a team on his short list - but it is a list that includes some tough competition

Zach (Atlanta)

How well will Jevon Sneed do in Meyer's offense?

  (4:36 PM)

Snead's abilities are a great fit for what Coach Meyer likes to do on offense. Tom Luginbill has said that Snead reminds him an awful lot of Alex Smith Coach Meyer's QB at Utah

Matt(syracuse, ny)

syracuse is it? good/bad/ugly?

  (4:41 PM)

Syracuse is off to a so-so start. This is a team to watch down the stretch. The 'Cuse is a school you can recruit to and that has been proven. Coach Robinson proved he could get the job done Texas. So the tools are there for Syracuse to land some top recruits we have to just wait and see

Jason: (Atlanta, GA)

UGA has some top recruits coming to visit this weekend. What can you tell us about Micah Johnson, Lee Tilley and Reshad Jones?

  (4:46 PM)

We are high on Micah Johnson as he is our #1 rated ILB - really talented kid. Jones is the #22 ranked player in our 150 and is an athletic ballhawk in the secondary

  (4:47 PM)

Tilley is a huge kid - not as polished as the other two, but has a great upside

steven (nashville)

How's Clemson's recruiting? I can never figure out if the program is up and coming or taking a nosedive.

  (4:51 PM)

Clemson is off to a very nice start. They have received verbals from a pair of bookend DE's in Ricky Sapp and Jamie Cumbie. Also in state CB Byron Maxwell is a great pick up

jon (denver)

How is Utah doing in the recuiting race since Meyer left?

  (4:53 PM)

Utah is doing well - they have 8 verbals right now with 6 coming from in state. I like the potential OG Whitley Fehoko from Hawaii has

Brad (Albuquerque)

Is Miami going to recruit anybody as good as Dorsey was..ever again?

  (4:57 PM)

Don't hit the panic button just yet. Miami struggled on monday night but Kyle Wright showed a lot sitting in there and getting pounded and still putting Miami in a poistion to tie at the end of the game. He made some big time throws on that last drive.

  (4:58 PM)

Also they have received a verbal from the #9 ranked QB in the country in Pat Devlin

  (5:06 PM)

Sorry everybody that is all we have time for today. I appreciate the questions and sorry I could not get to everyone. Be sure to check out the high school game on ESPN U featuring Colerain HS in Ohio. Our own Tom Luginbill will be providing analysis. He will also be back on Monday for your questions. Have a great weekend.
