Quiz: Influential African-American Athletes, Part I

Jackie Robinson was a member of six World Series teams.
Although Jackie Robinson wasn't the first African-American athlete to cross a color barrier, his debut with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947 ushered in a symbolic new era in sports. By ending decades old segregation in American's most popular sport, Robinson lifted sports to a more prominent place in the social history of America.

In the 60 years since Robinson first took the field in Brooklyn, hundreds of African-American athletes have carved out legacies that transcend wins and losses. Whether by breaking through invisible barriers on the field of play or using the platform of sports to raise public consciousness of issues off the field, these athletes made history.
