6th Annual SportsNation Spelling Bee



How perspicacious are you when it comes to spelling?
The 81st annual Scripps National Spelling Bee is ready to roll in Washington, D.C. In honor of the 288 bright, young champions taking part in the bee, we proudly present the sixth annual SportsNation Spelling Bee.

Below you will find 10 words that would give even the best spelling bee champion a challenge. These won't be particularly recognizable, to say the least.

You also will find 10 names or words from the sports world that would be considered challenging to spell. You should recognize a fair share of these words. Pick the correct spelling and see how many of the 20 words you get right.

We've also included five real words hidden among a forest of fake ones. Can you pick out which of these words actually exist? Good luck!

Be sure and tune in on Thursday and Friday (quarterfinal action will run on Thursday 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. ET on ESPN360, with the semifinals being contested from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. ET on ESPN on Friday. The championship round will be from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. ET on ABC on Friday) for live coverage of the 81st annual Scripps National Spelling Bee.
