Does Jason Campbell still have potential?
Which recent first-round quarterbacks still have the most potential?
Drafting a quarterback in the first round, as the Rams and Broncos just did, is an undeniable gamble. Since the banner quarterback class of 2004, 17 quarterbacks were selected in the first round prior to Sam Bradford and Tim Tebow this year. Eight of them have either emerged as stars or shown enough to suggest they will live up to the pick -- Eli Manning, Philip Rivers, Ben Roethlisberger, Aaron Rodgers, Matt Ryan, Joe Flacco, Matthew Stafford and Mark Sanchez. The other nine? From flashes of stardom from Jay Cutler and Vince Young to considerably less sizzle from JaMarcus Russell, the jury is still out to varying degrees.
So with former first-round picks Jason Campbell and JaMarcus Russell crossing paths in Oakland, across the water from Alex Smith, which of the quarterbacks below still have the most potential?
