Rank 'Em: NHL First-Round Upsets

Created: April 28, 2010, 9:28 PM

Where do Jaroslav Halak and the Canadiens rank?

What are the greatest first-round upsets in NHL playoff history?

The Capitals cruised to the Presidents Trophy top seed in the Eastern Conference during the regular season, but their playoff hopes were extinguished in Game 7 against a Canadiens team that barely advanced to the postseason. Of course, the Capitals are hardly alone as a No. 1 or No. 2 seed whose season came to an unexpectedly abrupt end in the first round. Chalk it up to hot goalies, unlucky bounces or just the pressure of the moment, but upsets aren't much of a surprise in hockey.
