The Texas Rangers improved their playoff odds and kept one of the AL's best hurlers in the fold by acquiring Cliff Lee from the Mariners before the All-Star break. But with the trade deadline looming and their own playoff odds dwindling, the Angels imported an ace from the National League by trading for Dan Haren.
