Anthony tops power rankings

Let's not pull punches: It's already been a long, dreadful season for the Knicks and we're not even past the All-Star break.

But Carmelo Anthony made New York basketball fans forget their misery on Friday night by doing what he does best -- scoring at will from anywhere on the floor. He poured in 62 points, including a half-court buzzer-beater at halftime, as the Knicks routed the Bobcats. In doing so, he erased a pair of single-game records: Kobe Bryant's Madison Square Garden mark and Bernard King's franchise record. And, oh yes, he earned the No. 1 spot in this week's Cross-Sport Power Rankings.

Joining Melo in the top three are Australian Open champions Stanislas Wawrinka and Li Na. Kevin Durant, the Thunder's unstoppable scoring machine, returns for his third straight week in the CSPR at No. 4, followed by Trail Blazers big man LaMarcus Aldridge.
