It was a long road back to the Super Bowl for Peyton Manning. But he drew a step closer to winning his second Vince Lombardi Trophy on Sunday, as he threw for 400 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the Broncos' AFC Championship Game victory over the Patriots. That performance earned Manning top honors in this week's Cross-Sport Power Rankings.
Joining Manning in the top five are two athletes who also made last week's list -- the Thunder's Kevin Durant, having the best offensive season of his career, at No. 2 and Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch, who keyed Seattle's defeat of the 49ers for the franchise's second Super Bowl bid, at No. 5. Rounding out the top five are Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman, who checks in at No. 3 for his defensive play and memorable postgame rant, and women's tennis player Ana Ivanovic, who stunned Serena Williams at the Australian Open.
The Cross-Sport Power Rankings week runs from Tuesday to Monday, covering all sporting events in that seven-day span.
