Agassi joins Hewitt, Roddick in tourney

Associated Press

LONDON -- Andre Agassi has accepted a wild card to play in the Wimbledon warmup at Queen's Club next week.

Agassi, the 1992 Wimbledon champion, last played the tournament in 2000 when he reached the third round.

"I can't think of a better present for our spectators, viewers and sponsors,'' tournament director Ian Wight said Thursday.

Agassi is looking for grass-court play after losing to Guillermo Coria in the French Open quarterfinals Tuesday. Wimbledon begins June 23.

Agassi is the third former Wimbledon champion to take a wild card into Queen's. Goran Ivansevic, the 2001 Wimbledon winner, and 1996 champion Richard Krajicek accepted invitations last month.

Also competing is defending Wimbledon champion Lleyton Hewitt, aiming for his fourth straight Queen's title.

Other entries include Britons Tim Henman and Greg Rusedski, Americans Andy Roddick and James Blake and Thai star Paradorn Srichaphan. Frenchman Sebastien Grosjean has also received a wild card.
