Tuesday, Feb. 19 7:57pm ET Kafelnikov among seeds to advance at Rotterdam tennis ROTTERDAM, Netherlands (Ticker) -- Second-seeded Yevgeny Kafelnikov of Russia easily won his first-round match at the ABN/AMRO World Tennis Tournament on Tuesday with a 6-3, 7-5 victory over Frenchman Julien Boutter. Kafelnikov, the 1999 winner here, improved to 7-3 this year. He was beaten in the semifinals Sunday at the Marseille Open by Thomas Enqvist. "I had a very difficult opponent here today, and I'm glad to get through my first match here," said Kafelnikov, who turned 28 Monday. "He is a dangerous and unpredictable opponent. He played two spectacular forehands being two match points down." Fourth-seeded Sebastien Grosjean of France also advanced with a a hard-fought 7-6 (12-10), 7-6 (7-5) victory over Rotterdam native Raemon Sluiter. Reigning Australian Open champion and fifth seed Thomas Johansson was successful in his opening match as he disposed of Hicham Arazi of Morocco, 6-4, 6-4. Tim Henman, the sixth seed from Britian, had an easy time with German Nicolas Kiefer, 6-2, 6-2. In other first-round matches, Ivan Ljubicic of Croatia outlasted Jan Siemerink of the Netherlands, 6-7 (6-8), 7-6 (8-6), 7-6 (9-7); and Spaniard Tommy Robredo got by Russian Mikhail Youzhny, 6-2, 6-4. The winner collects $128,400.
