Brussels Open folds after 3 years
BRUSSELS -- The WTA's Brussels Open has folded after three years because it has become too expensive to stage.
The tournament says "the current economic context and the ever-increasing investments to meet the demands of the WTA for the Premier label made it a difficult, near impossible task."
The 2013 edition, which offered $250,000 in prize money, was hit by bad spring weather and poor crowds. Kaia Kanepi of Estonia won the title.
