Roger Federer has announced his preliminary schedule for the 2016 tennis season.
Federer, who won six titles during 2015, is set to play in 16 events next year, a list which unusually includes just one clay tournament. The 34-year-old will only feature on the red surface at the French Open, the year's second grand slam.
The Swiss played in four clay tournaments in the build-up to this year's French Open, but these have all been cut for his 2016 schedule -- including the Monte Carlo Masters.
Federer will play at Indian Wells which finishes on March 20 and have an nine-week break before next playing at his only clay event of the year, at Roland Garros on May 22.
Stuttgart has been added to schedule along with Rotterdam, meaning the 17-time Grand Slam winner will play in a total of three grass tournaments for the year and 12 on hard.
