Wimbledon, BBC extend deal three years

LONDON -- Wimbledon will be shown on the BBC in Britain through 2017 after the All England Club signed a three-year extension to its deal with the broadcaster.

The BBC has broadcast action from the famous tennis tournament on radio and television since 1927.

Barbara Slater, director of BBC Sport, says "the BBC's first ever live sport broadcast was from Wimbledon and we are proud that our new deal means the longest partnership in sport's broadcasting continues."
