Albert Ramos wins at Malaysian Open

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia -- Albert Ramos of Spain hit 14 aces on his way to beating Austrian qualifier Julian Knowle 6-1, 6-4 Tuesday in the first round of the Malaysian Open.

Knowle, a doubles specialist, played his first singles match on tour since 2005.
Ramos will next face third-seeded Kei Nishikori of Japan.
Matthew Ebden of Australia beat Russian wild card Philip Davydenko, the nephew of Nikolay Davydenko, 6-0, 7-6 (6-3), to line up a second-round match against No. 7 seed Julien Benneteau of France, who beat Carlos Berlocq of Argentina 7-6 (2), 6-3.
