Serena Williams upset about security
WIMBLEDON, England -- Serena Williams says Wimbledon organizers should take security into account when scheduling matches after she was "almost knocked over" by fans following her fourth-round victory over Yaroslava Shvedova on Court 2.
The four-time champion at the All England Club was mobbed by fans seeking autographs as she began her walk from the court on the outskirts of the club back to the locker rooms inside Centre Court. Security guards had to push fans aside to let Williams through.
Williams says "I literally was almost knocked over today," adding that there "was tons of security guards in there just going nuts and screaming. I've never heard them scream so loud."
Williams, who complained last year about having to play on Court 2 instead of Centre Court, said "maybe (security) can be taken into consideration."
