HISTORY:

The stadium made its debut in baseball in 1968. It was built circular, with three decks and no roof. This very plain and drab stadium underwent a $120 million renovation in 1995 that added 22,000 new seats, 90 luxury suites, two private clubs and two state-of-the-art scoreboards. The first crowd filled the stadium on Sept. 8, 1966, when the AFL's Raiders played the Kansas City Chiefs. The A's, who had moved from Kansas City, followed suit on April 17, 1968. Soak up the scene:

General:

O.co Coliseum is the only major entertainment facility with a stop on the BART. Alcohol beverages, weapons of any kind, fireworks and video cameras are among the items prohibited from the venue.

Will Call:

All will-call tickets can be picked up on the plaza on the west side of the stadium. Will call opens two hours prior to the game and closes in the middle of the 7th inning. Will call is then moved to the receptionist desk inside the stadium until the end of the game. Guests must show photo ID at will call in order to pick up their tickets. Guests may also leave tickets at these windows for third-party pickup.

From San Jose north on Interstate 880: Take the 66th Avenue exit, follow signs to coliseum. From San Mateo East on San Mateo Bridge to Interstate 880 North on I-880: Take the 66th Avenue exit, follow signs. From Marin County Richmond-San Rafael Bridge to Interstate 580 Continue East on I-580 to I-980: Continue on I-980 as it becomes I-880 South, take the 66th Avenue exit and follow signs. From San Francisco East on Bay Bridge to Interstate 580 East: Continue East on I-580 to I-980 toward downtown Oakland, continue on I-980 as it becomes I-880 South, take the 66th Avenue exit and follow signs. From Sacramento West on Interstate 80 toward. East on I-580 exit at I-980 toward downtown Oakland, continue on I-980 as it becomes I-880 South, take the 66th Avenue exit and follow signs. From Contra Costa County Highway 24 through the Caldecott Tunnell: Exit at I-980 toward downtown Oakland, continue on I-980 as it becomes I-880 South, take the 66th Avenue exit and follow signs.

Transportation:

O.co Coliseum is reachable on the Bay Area Rapid Transit system, or BART, with the coliseum stop located outside the East Side stadium gates. From San Francisco or Richmond, take the Fremont line, or the Dublin/Pleasanton line from San Francisco. From Concord, take the San Francisco/Daly City line, transfer at MacArthur to the Fremont line. From Fremont, take either the San Francisco/Daly City or Richmond line. Other public transit options include the Capitol Corridor (AmTrack) and Alameda-Contra Costa Transit District (AC Transit), as outlined on the coliseum website.
