HISTORY:

In 2003, the White Sox and U.S. Cellular forged a partnership, allowing for dramatic renovations to the stadium in the next several years. Several renovations, including a new video board in center field and a "fan deck," were made prior to the 2003 season. Formerly known as Comiskey Park, U.S. Cellular Field opened April 18, 1991, and was the first new sports facility built in Chicago since Chicago Stadium in 1929. The ballpark features a 53-foot-wide, by 28-foot-tall video screen. The park has been used in many commercials and several movies, including "My Best Friend's Wedding" and "Major League II." The playing field is composed of bluegrass sod, with three different blends of grass. The infield consists of dirt transported from the original park.

Soak up the scene:

The Cell may play second fiddle to that ballpark on the North Side of town, but it's got a lot going for it. There're some pretty good eats, the famous exploding scoreboard and a hearty and underappreciated fan base. • Stadium Club Passes do not include admission to the game. Game tickets are still required.

Kids:

Children shorter than the turnstile arm (approximately 36 inches) are admitted free of charge, but must share a seat with an accompanying adult. Children taller than the turnstile arm are required to have a game ticket.

The ballpark normally opens 1½ hours prior to game time. Consult the schedule for game times.

Will Call:

Will call pick-ups require the order confirmation number, photo ID and credit card and can be picked up at any U.S. Cellular Field ticket window during normal business hours or on game nights. Tickets ordered for Diamond Suites, through a season ticket holder or through special arrangements from members of the Chicago White Sox, including players and front office staff, are to picked up at the US Cellular Field Box Office windows, located at Gate 4 (corner of 35th and Shields). Complimentary tickets may be picked up two hours prior to game time. You must have ID available. To leave tickets at will call for another member of your party, please leave them at Gate 4, ticket windows 1-5.

Directions:

FROM NORTHWEST SUBURBS AND O'HARE INTERNATIONAL: Take Interstate I-90 or I-190 East ramp toward Chicago. Merge onto I-90/94 East and follow for about 17 miles to 94 (Dan Ryan Expressway), taking the local lanes. Exit/Parking: Cash customers and fans holding a green coupon, proceed to 35th Street exit and follow signs to "Sox Parking." Fans holding a red parking coupon, exit at 31st street and follow signs for "Red Coupons." If 35th Street exit is temporarily closed due to heavy traffic, proceed to 39th Street exit. Cash customers or fans holding green coupons, turn right and follow signs to "Sox Parking." Fans holding red coupons turn left on 39th street and follow signs for "Red Coupons." FROM SOUTHWEST SUBURBS AND CHICAGO'S MIDWAY AIRPORT: Take Interstate 55 North toward Chicago. Take the I-94 East/Ryan Expressway Exit 294 toward Indiana. Merge onto I-94 East, taking the local lanes. Follow Exit/Parking instructions above. FROM THE FAR NORTH SUBURBS AND MILWAUKEE: Take Interstate 94 East to 90/94. Proceed to 94 (Dan Ryan Expressway) local lanes. Follow Exit/Parking instructions above. FROM THE WESTERN SUBURBS: Take 290 East to 94 South (Dan Ryan Expressway) using local lanes. Follow Exit/Parking instructions above. FROM THE SOUTH: Take 57 East to 94 West. Cash customers and fans holding a green coupon, proceed to 35th Street exit and follow signs to "Sox Parking." Fans holding a red parking coupon, exit at 31st street and follow signs for "Red Coupons." If 35th Street exit is temporarily closed due to heavy traffic, proceed to 31st Street exit. Cash customers or fans holding green coupons turn left onto 31st street. Follow 31st street over expressway and turn left on Wentworth. Go straight on Wentworth and follow signs to "Sox Parking."

Parking:

Day-of-game cost to park at Comiskey Park Lots is $13. Fans paying cash may park in lots E, F or L. Exit I-94 (Dan Ryan Expressway) from either direction at 35th street. From the north, go straight on Wentworth to 37th street. Turn right on 37th street. Follow parking personnel's instructions into the parking lots. From the south, turn left onto 35th street and follow over expressway. Turn left onto Wentworth. Go straight on Wentworth to 37th street. Turn right on 37th street. Transportation:

Fans may ride the CTA's Red Line elevated train to the ballpark. Exit at the Sox/35th street stop. For other public transportation information, call the CTA at 312-836-7000.
