The Kings used to play at the Great Western Forum from 1967 to 1999 until Staples Center was built. Although Wayne Gretzky never played for the Kings at Staples Center, a statue of Gretzky is displayed outside the arena. He played for the team from 1988 to 1996 and, along with players like Luc Robitaille, was influential in making the sport popular in California. Staples Center has hosted some of the largest and most prestigious events in the world, plus major hockey events such as the 2012 Stanley Cup finals, the 2010 NHL Entry Draft and the 2002 NHL All-Star Game. Staples Center also is home to the Clippers and Lakers of the NBA and the Sparks of the WNBA and hosts more than 250 events each year, according to the arena's Web site. 405 northbound: North to 110 North toward Los Angeles. Take 10W (toward Los Angeles). Take 110N and exit at Pico Boulevard. Continue north past Pico Boulevard (on Cherry Street) to 11th Street and turn right into the West Hall Convention Center Parking Structure.
I-10 eastbound: Take 101 North to 110 South toward San Pedro and exit at Olympic Boulevard. Turn left at the first traffic light (11th Street) and continue to the West Hall Convention Center Parking Structure.
110 southbound: I-5 South To 110 South/Pasadena Freeway. Exit toward Los Angeles. Exit at Olympic Boulevard and turn left to 11th Street. Turn left onto 11th Street and continue straight to the West Hall Convention Center Parking Structure.
