ESPN Dos to air nine-hour Eduardo Najera Special
The most memorable performances of Eduardo Najera, who hopes to become the first Mexican player ever to be drafted by a National Basketball Association team, will be featured in a nine-hour programming block on ESPN Dos, Wednesday, June 28 from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. ET. The Eduardo Najera Special Presented by ESPN Dos will be followed by LIVE coverage of the NBA Draft from 7:00 to 11:00 p.m. from the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Najera, a native of Chihuahua, Mexico, finished his four-year college basketball career at the University of Oklahoma as the school's eighth-leading, all-time scorer (1,646 points) and fifth-leading rebounder (910 rebounds). The 6'8", 240-pound forward averaged a team-high 18.4 points and 9.2 rebounds a game, while guiding the Sooners to a 27-7 record and sixth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance this season. Najera was named the Chip Hilton Player of the Year at Oklahoma and was selected to the All-Big 12 first team, the All-America third team and the Big 12 All-Defense Team for the 1999-2000 season.

The Eduardo Najera Special Presented by ESPN Dos will include interview segments with Najera, as he reflects on his most memorable games during his college basketball career at Oklahoma.

The following four games will be aired in their entirety:
  • Iowa State @ Oklahoma, January 22, 2000 - Najera scored 25 points, had 14 rebounds and led Oklahoma to a double overtime 80-75 victory.
  • Missouri @ Oklahoma, February 26, 2000 - In the last home game of his Sooner career, Najera scored 25 points and collected 10 rebounds as Oklahoma trounced Missouri 83-56.
  • Oklahoma vs. Texas, March 11, 2000 - In the Big 12 Tournament semifinals, Najera scored a career-high 31 points and had 8 rebounds, as Oklahoma advanced to the Big 12 Championship game with an 81-65 win.
  • Mexican All-Stars vs. Magic Johnson All-Stars, May 13, 2000 - From the Sports Palace in Mexico City, Najera scored 24 points in leading the Mexican All-Stars to a 91-84 win over the Magic Johnson All-Stars in his last game played prior to the NBA Draft.
