Smith, Niners hold off Titans

Vince Young is showing signs of making the Titans competitive again, but it isn't enough against the 49ers as Alex Smith continues to show signs of the potential that made him a number one pick only a few years ago.

Smith completed 20/41 passes for 214 yards, including one touchdown and one interception, finding tight end Vernon Davis for nine of those completions and Michael Crabtree for five more.

The win puts San Francisco at 4-4 for the season as they maintain striking distance of the first-place Cardinals as they head into the second half of the season.
