Azzi will concentrate on business interests

SAN ANTONIO -- Jennifer Azziis retiring from the WNBA to devote more of her time to her business interests.

Azzi, 35, ends her five-year career as the league's all-time leader in 3-point shooting at 45.8 percent, and among the leaders in free-throw shooting and assists.

She averaged 9.1 points, 2.6 rebounds and 4.5 assists in 141 games with San Antonio, Utah and Detroit.

Before joining the WNBA in 1999, Azzi played five years in Europe and three seasons in the American Basketball League.

She was part of the U.S. team that won the gold medal in the 1996 Olympic games in Atlanta, and was the national player of the year while leading Stanford to the NCAA championship in 1990.

Azzi said she will concentrate on her business, Azzi Training, which runs fitness camps in California and Utah, and also on her speaking career.
