SEATTLE -- Sue Bird is returning to the Seattle Storm for an 11th season and likely beyond after agreeing to a multiyear deal with the only WNBA franchise she's ever played for.

The re-signing of Bird and backcourt mate Tanisha Wright was announced by the club on Thursday.

The two make up the longest-tenured starting backcourt in the WNBA, having started 117 games together since Wright was taken in the 2005 draft.

Bird was taken with the No. 1 pick in the 2002 WNBA draft.

Bird said it's long been her desire to play her entire career in Seattle and this latest contract brings her a step closer to making that a reality.

Coach and general manager Brian Agler says getting Bird and Wright re-signed were the priorities in the offseason.
