Danielle O'Banion new president of BCA

INDIANAPOLIS -- Memphis associate head coach Danielle O'Banion has been appointed as president of the Black Coaches and Administrators board of directors.

O'Banion is the second woman to hold the post, joining Syracuse's women's basketball coach Marianna Freeman.

O'Banion has served on the BCA board since 2007 and was a 2006 graduate of the BCA-NCAA Achieving Coaching Excellence program.

She said in a statement released Friday by the BCA that she wants to provide more educational and professional advancement opportunities for the organization and hopes to expand its reach by adding new partners.

She took over the job Thursday.
