Carolyn Davis out for rest of season
LAWRENCE, Kan. -- Kansas junior forward and All-America candidate Carolyn Davis will miss the remainder of the season after suffering a dislocated knee and torn anterior cruciate ligament in Sunday's loss to Kansas State.
Kansas coach Bonnie Henrickson made the announcement Monday.
Davis' injury is a sudden blow to the Jayhawks' offense. The 6-foot-3 Davis leads the team in scoring with a 17.5 points-per-game average and her 60.2 field-goal percentage entering Sunday ranked in the top five nationally. She scored 20 or more points eight times this season and had three double-doubles.
Davis was among the players on the preseason watch lists for the Naismith, Wade Trophy and Wooden awards. She also was named to last season's All-Big 12 first team.
The Jayhawks are 17-7 overall (6-6 Big 12) and in contention for an NCAA tournament berth.
