All season long West Virginia played downhill, after a fashion. Basically, the Mountaineers committed far fewer turnovers than they forced. Tonight against Stephen F. Austin, however, that advantage vanished, and Bob Huggins' guys faced a mountain too steep for Mountaineers. WVU committed 22 turnovers, while SFA recorded just seven.

Fans watching Stephen F. Austin and West Virginia in Brooklyn are being treated to a fast-paced slugfest. The Mountaineer press has forced just four Lumberjack turnovers in 36 possessions. Neither team's put the ball in the basket with regularity, but excellent work done by SFA (and Thomas Walkup in particular) on the defensive glass has helped give the 'Jacks a three-point lead.

In terms of chalk seeding in East region, North Carolina should be pleased with potential matchups. Out of 2. Xavier, 3. West Virginia, 4. Kentucky, 5. Indiana -- none will try to play that frustrating, slow down game that can stifle the Tar Heels.
