Hawk flies high with new video
ESPN.com

World-famous skateboarder Tony Hawk and his Birdhouse Projects skateboard team completed their new skateboard video, The End, last summer, and it premiered Oct. 8 at the Galaxy Theater in Santa Ana, Calif.

The End promises to be unlike any other skateboarding video. Expect the unexpected during this 35-minute extravaganza involving $1,500 Armani suites, buckets of pig's blood, skaters set on fire, cameos from porn stars (they keep their clothes on) and a matador costume.

"We knew with the talent on our team we had to do something extraordinary," Hawk said. "There had been so much anticipation -- we had to do something that would take us to the next level."

Because most skateboard videos have a low-budget feel, Tony Hawk wanted to produce a movie that would raise the bar for future skateboard videos. The End was shot entirely in 16- and 35-millimeter film using up to five cameras simultaneously.

Skaters in the film -- including Bucky Lasek, Willy Santos, Steve Berra and Andrew Reynolds -- developed his own segment, ranging from a bullring in Mexico to a food fight in a restaurant to a $1,000-per-day rented mansion.
